A goat for you!

Thanks for finding a diplomatic solution for the dinosaur issue. I felt bad for the guy who was misquoted, this was a good solution that balanced guidelines with common sense.

CT55555 (talk) 13:06, 16 August 2022 (UTC)

Thanks! Yeah, it didn't feel right to continue to quote someone on an article who was adamant it was misattributed, regardless of WP:RSP Skipple 13:34, 16 August 2022 (UTC)

So uh... there are currently a lot of articles and pages that link to Wii Menu. Not all of them will need ot be changed but I know the ones that a re a result from the "X Channel" redirects will (either that or their redirect targets need to be changed). ― Blaze WolfTalkBlaze Wolf#6545 20:11, 6 September 2022 (UTC)

Yeah we can comb through the links. Should be easy enough to redirect -
Additional thought: If we are merging these articles, I am thinking the title of Wii system software needs to change to Wii software. It isn't just about the system software anymore (which in my mind refers to the operating system specifically) Skipple 20:14, 6 September 2022 (UTC)
Ya that sounds like a good idea. Although "system software" could mean the same thing so I'd say we propose the move instead of doing it as I could see some opposition to it with the reasoning that "system software" can still mean things like the Channels. ― Blaze WolfTalkBlaze Wolf#6545 20:16, 6 September 2022 (UTC)
Yeah that makes sense - The only thing is that I am worried about attempting to fix links, only to have to do it all over again if we come to consensus to move the page. I suppose we can cross the bridge when we get to it. Skipple 20:23, 6 September 2022 (UTC)
I say we figure out what stuff will be merged and then propose the move. ― Blaze WolfTalkBlaze Wolf#6545 00:02, 7 September 2022 (UTC)
@Blaze Wolf: I've begun to rework the article beyond the copy/pasting over on my sandbox. I am thinking some of the downloadable channels information can be removed as they are better suited to be described on the chart below. I'm also questioning the accuracy of 'pre-installed' channels as the article currently contradicts itself where only 4 channels were pre-installed at the time of release. That section is going to need a heafy rework and some research of what channels were released, how, and when. Skipple 18:31, 7 September 2022 (UTC)
Alright sounds good. (also you don't have to ping me since I'm automatically notified when you reply) ― Blaze WolfTalkBlaze Wolf#6545 18:32, 7 September 2022 (UTC)

I’ll like you to make a post for me for my artist for viral search if people want to look for my page on google Heray1804 (talk) 13:39, 15 September 2023 (UTC)
Hi, I would highly suggest creating a Draft article, then bring the article through the proper process. Take a look at Help:Your first article as this may help you through the process. It sounds like you may have a conflict of interest with the subject, so I would highly suggest reading through WP:COI as well. - Skipple 13:47, 15 September 2023 (UTC)

I believe that you’re unfairly removing my edits.

Your edits are describing your personal point of view of the song. If you believe this criticism should be added to the article, I would suggest adding reliable sources that support this view. - Skipple 03:15, 26 September 2023 (UTC)
I will add these sources shortly. KillaTrav87 (talk) 03:17, 26 September 2023 (UTC)

Rollback granted

Hi Skipple. After reviewing your request, I have enabled rollback on your account. Please keep the following things in mind while using rollback:

  • Being granted rollback is no more momentous than installing Twinkle. It just adds a [Rollback] button next to a page's latest live revision - that's all. It does not grant you any additional "status" on Wikipedia, nor does it change how Wikipedia policies apply to you.
  • Rollback should be used to revert clear and unambiguous cases of vandalism only. Never use rollback to revert good faith edits.
  • Rollback should never be used to edit war, and it should never be used in a content-related dispute to restore the page to your preferred revision. If rollback is abused or used for this purpose or any other inappropriate purpose, the rights will be revoked.
  • Use common sense. If you're not sure about something, ask!

If you no longer want rollback, contact me and I'll remove it. Also, for some more information on how to use rollback, see Wikipedia:Administrators' guide/Rollback (even though you're not an admin). I'm sure you'll do great with rollback, but feel free to leave me a message on my talk page if you run into trouble or have any questions about appropriate/inappropriate use of rollback. Thank you for helping to reduce vandalism. Happy editing! Anarchyte (talk) 12:01, 26 September 2023 (UTC)

Administrators' newsletter – August 2025

News and updates for administrators from the past month (July 2025).

Guideline and policy news

  • Following a request for comment, a new speedy deletion criterion, G15, has been enacted. It applies to pages generated by a large language model (LLM) without human review.
  • Following a request for comment, there is a new policy outlining the granting of permissions to view the IP addresses of temporary accounts. Temporary account deployment on the English Wikipedia is currently scheduled for September 2025, and editors can request access to the permission ahead of time. Admins are encouraged to keep an eye on the request page; there will likely be a flood of editors requesting the permission when they realize they can no longer see IP addresses.

    • The community-authorized general sanctions regarding South Asian social groups (GS/CASTE) are rescinded and folded into this new contentious topic.

Arbitration

  • After a motion, arbitration enforcement page protections no longer need to be logged in the AELOG. A bot now automatically posts protections at WP:AELOG/P. To facilitate this bot, protection summaries must include a link to the relevant CT page (e.g. [[WP:CT/BLP]]), and you will receive talk page reminders if you forget to specify the contentious topic but otherwise indicate it is an AE action.

ArbCom 2025 Elections voter message

Hello! Voting in the 2025 Arbitration Committee elections is now open until 23:59 (UTC) on Monday, 1 December 2025. All eligible users are allowed to vote. Users with alternate accounts may only vote once.

The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to impose binding solutions to disputes between editors, primarily for serious conduct disputes the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the authority to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail.

If you wish to participate in the 2025 election, please review the candidates and submit your choices on the voting page. If you no longer wish to receive these messages, you may add {{NoACEMM}} to your user talk page. MediaWiki message delivery (talk) 00:50, 18 November 2025 (UTC)

Technical news

  • Starting on November 4, the IP addresses of logged-out editors are no longer being publicly displayed. Instead, they will have a temporary account associated with their edits.
  • Administrators will now find that Special:MergeHistory is now significantly more flexible about what it can merge. It can now merge sections taken from the middle of the history of the source (rather than only the start) and insert revisions anywhere in the history of the destination page (rather than only the start). • Due to the result of a recent motion, a rough consensus of administrators at the arbitration enforcement noticeboard may impose an expanded topic ban on Israel, Israelis, Jews, Judaism, Palestine, Palestinians, Islam, and/or Arabs, if an editor's Arab-Israeli conflict topic ban is determined to be insufficient to prevent disruption. At least one diff per area expanded into should be cited.
