Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)
Comment

Regarding slakr:

Why did my page get deleted?
I have no idea what you're talking about. What's vandalism?
If you received a warning from me and you're not logged in, you might have gotten an old warning I sent to someone who shares your IP address. On the other hand, if you've made recent edits and received a recent warning message from me and you genuinely believe that it's not vandalism, don't fret-- simply drop me a message below, because I could have simply made a silly mistake. :)

Regarding SineBot:

Why does SineBot keep signing stuff I've already signed?
All comments should have a signature that includes both a link to your user page (slakr) and a datestamp (05:12, 20 August 2007 (UTC)) (per signatures - internal links). This is most easily generated by placing four tildes (~~~~) at the end of your contributions, which makes something like "slakr 05:12, 20 August 2007 (UTC)".

If you have an interwiki-linked user page, consider either creating a user page on enwiki that redirects to your preferred home wiki or simply opting out of automatic signing.

If you're still having problems after trying that, post a message below. Be sure to include diffs to make sure I can reference the problem.
I don't want my comments signed by SineBot. How do I get it to ignore me or my talk page?
Please use one of the opt-out methods listed on its user page.
SineBot forgot to sign something it should have signed.
Usually this happens because the bot isn't sure if it really should sign something, so it defaults to not signing it (e.g., in cases of complex edits). It does this to avoid being annoying. Other times, a comment might be made when the bot is down for maintenance, so the bot simply never sees it.
SineBot signed something that it genuinely should not have signed.
Please let me know-- especially if you think it's not a one-time thing. Be sure to include diffs to make sure I can reference the problem.
Is SineBot's source code available?
Not currently.
I'm signing with four tildes (~~~~) but it's still saying I didn't!
You likely enabled raw signatures. Open your preferences, click the "User profile" tab, make sure that "Treat the above as wiki markup" is NOT checked, and click Save; it should be fixed. If you have an interwiki-linked user page, consider either creating a user page on enwiki that redirects to your preferred home wiki or simply opting out of automatic signing.

SineBot signing valid signature

SineBot keeps signing comments left by Anonymsiy‬ (talk · contribs), see e.g. Talk:Ganymede_(moon)#Request_to_process_the_True_color_of_these_Galileo_images. Their signature looks like this:

[[User:Anonymsiy‬|<span style="color:green;">'''anonymsiy.user‬'''</span>]] 20:46, 20 January 2026 (UTC)

anonymsiy.user‬ 20:46, 20 January 2026 (UTC)

LaundryPizza03 (d) 08:24, 22 January 2026 (UTC)

i like it that way :) anonymsiy.user‬ 15:55, 22 January 2026 (UTC)  Preceding unsigned comment added by Anonymsiy (talkcontribs)
Was just about to comment here about the same. The only thing I can think of is that there's no talk link, but that's not a requirement for the bot. Anonymsiy, whatever you did to make the bot think that you haven't signed, undo that action; it is disruptive. Primefac (talk) 23:55, 28 January 2026 (UTC)
what did i even do wrong anonymsiy.user‬ 07:30, 29 January 2026 (UTC)  Preceding unsigned comment added by Anonymsiy (talkcontribs)
We don't know, and it may be a bug in SineBot's code. But my signature uses <b> instead of apostrophes for bold markup. As such this might alleviate the issue:
[[User:Anonymsiy‬|<b style="color:green;">anonymsiy.user‬</b>]] 07:30, 29 January 2026 (UTC)

anonymsiy.user‬ 07:30, 29 January 2026 (UTC)

LaundryPizza03 (d) 09:39, 29 January 2026 (UTC)
okeh i will try that anonymsiy.user‬ 15:48, 29 January 2026 (UTC)  Preceding unsigned comment added by Anonymsiy (talkcontribs)
It likely has to do with the lack of link to a User talk page. WP:SIG historically required that a custom signature link to the User talk page, with the User page link being encouraged but optional. At some point it looks like the guideline was changed to only require one of: User, User talk, OR contributions, and I'm guessing I either missed a message at some point or nobody ever told me. :P Regardless, I'll stick this on the to-do list; for now, if it gets annoying, the usual opt-out methods can still apply, and as always it'll just start ignoring users with enough edits anyway (which is like 99% of the users who get around to customizing their signatures in the first place). --slakr\ talk / 09:29, 17 February 2026 (UTC)
Thought that might be the case, thanks. Primefac (talk) 10:19, 17 February 2026 (UTC)

Protections in AELOG

Hi Slakr! Hope you are doing well. I wanted to let you know that after a recent ArbCom motion, page protections are automatically logged, so you no longer need to do this manually. See Wikipedia:Arbitration enforcement log/Protections § About this page for exact details.

I am reaching out as a fellow admin, not as an arb; you are absolutely not in trouble :)

Sweet; thanks for the heads up, and cheers =) --slakr\ talk / 09:00, 17 February 2026 (UTC)

Arbitration

  • Following a motion, remedy 9.1 of the Conduct in deletion-related editing case has been amended to limit TenPoundHammer to one XfD nomination or PROD per 24-hour period.
  • Following a motion, the Iskandar323 further POV pushing motion has been rescinded.
  • The Arbitration Committee has passed a housekeeping motion rescinding a number of outdated remedies and enforcement provisions across multiple legacy cases. In most instances, existing sanctions remain in force and continue to be appealable through the usual processes, while some case-specific remedies were amended or clarified.

CS1 error on Channel 6 (San Rafael, Argentina)

Hello, I'm Qwerfjkl (bot). I have automatically detected that this edit performed by you, on the page Channel 6 (San Rafael, Argentina), may have introduced referencing errors. They are as follows:

  • A missing title error. References show this error when they do not have a title. Please edit the article to add the appropriate title parameter to the reference. (Fix | Ask for help)

Please check this page and fix the errors highlighted. If you think this is a false positive, you can report it to my operator. Thanks, Qwerfjkl (bot) (talk) 07:09, 19 March 2026 (UTC)

Requesting to block a TA

Can you please block ~2026-17114-87 for harassment of 45dogs? I saw you RD2 the harassment and thought that you forgot to block this TA before it does more harassment. ~2026-71744-3 (talk) 19:07, 19 March 2026 (UTC)

The account was blocked on its underlying IP, but it doesn't let you see that because IPs are protected now.   Metal Breaks And Bends   (talk) (contribs) 19:15, 19 March 2026 (UTC)
I see. When TAs were first launched, I thought that admins need to block the TAs AND the underlying IP if its harassment or when there are multiple disruptive TAs from a single IP address/range. Thanks for the heads up! ~2026-71744-3 (talk) 19:22, 19 March 2026 (UTC)
For future reference, you can consult this table that legitimately gave me a headache. Happy editing!   Metal Breaks And Bends   (talk) (contribs) 19:41, 19 March 2026 (UTC)
The table is also giving me a headache. ~2026-71744-3 (talk) 00:00, 20 March 2026 (UTC)
As y'all mentioned, I just blocked the underlying IP, as there were other TAs involved. It's temporary, though, so if it resumes, feel free to bring it up at WP:AIV again. Incidentally, yeah, those tables are definitely a little confusing; the one at WP:BLOCK () seems a bit simpler and more straightforward, at least to me. :P --slakr\ talk / 01:46, 20 March 2026 (UTC)
