Introduction to contentious topics

You have recently edited a page related to gender-related disputes or controversies or people associated with them, a topic designated as contentious. This is a brief introduction to contentious topics and does not imply that there are any issues with your editing.

A special set of rules applies to certain topic areas, which are referred to as contentious topics. These are specially designated topics that tend to attract more persistent disruptive editing than the rest of the project and have been designated as contentious topics by the Arbitration Committee. When editing a contentious topic, Wikipedia’s norms and policies are more strictly enforced, and Wikipedia administrators have special powers in order to reduce disruption to the project.

Within contentious topics, editors should edit carefully and constructively, refrain from disrupting the encyclopedia, and:

  • adhere to the purposes of Wikipedia;
  • comply with all applicable policies and guidelines;
  • follow editorial and behavioural best practice;
  • comply with any page restrictions in force within the area of conflict; and
  • refrain from gaming the system.

Editors are advised to err on the side of caution if unsure whether making a particular edit is consistent with these expectations. If you have any questions about contentious topics procedures you may ask them at the arbitration clerks' noticeboard or you may learn more about this contentious topic here. You may also choose to note which contentious topics you know about by using the {{Ctopics/aware}} template.

Trans Aid Cymru

Where did the logo for the Trans Aid Cymru article come from? Unless it is freely licensed it can't be used in the draft. Reconrabbit 15:33, 4 September 2024 (UTC)

@Reconrabbit
Hi, I used to be one of the Trans Aid Cymru volunteers, and made the logo Sleepytimecat (talk) 23:09, 4 September 2024 (UTC)
Okay. I don't see anything on the Trans Aid Cymru website that indicates any level of copyright or any indication of ownership at all. I don't have enough experience to say one way or another what is good or not so I guess it is okay. Reconrabbit 23:23, 4 September 2024 (UTC)
@Reconrabbit No problem! Thanks for checking :) Sleepytimecat (talk) 23:28, 4 September 2024 (UTC)

Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. An automated process has detected that when you recently edited The Consortium of LGBT Voluntary and Community Organisations UK, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Stonewall. Such links are usually incorrect, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of unrelated topics with similar titles. (Read the FAQ  Join us at the DPL WikiProject.)

Trans in the City moved to draftspace

Thanks for your contributions to Trans in the City. Unfortunately, I do not think it is ready for publishing at this time because it needs more sources to establish notability and you may have a possible Conflict of Interest. I have converted your article to a draft which you can improve, undisturbed for a while.

Please see more information at Help:Unreviewed new page. When the article is ready for publication, please click on the "Submit the draft for review!" button at the top of the page OR move the page back. Onel5969 TT me 15:35, 10 August 2025 (UTC)

DYK for Kate Nambiar

On 20 November 2025, Did you know was updated with a fact from the article Kate Nambiar, which you recently created, substantially expanded, or brought to good article status. The fact was ... that in 2023 Kate Nambiar advised the EastEnders team around HIV treatment options for a storyline? The nomination discussion and review may be seen at Template:Did you know nominations/Kate Nambiar. You are welcome to check how many pageviews the nominated article or articles got while on the front page (here's how, Kate Nambiar), and the hook may be added to the statistics page after its run on the Main Page has completed. Finally, if you know of an interesting fact from another recently created article, then please feel free to nominate it.

I have sent you a note about a page you started

Hi Sleepytimecat. Thank you for your work on Temozolomide overprescription incident. Another editor, Klbrain, has reviewed it as part of new pages patrol and left the following comment:

Thanks for creating this article on a set of cases centering around the overprescription of temozolomide. It's a coherent topic, and shows sustained coverage in the media, adding to the topic's notability. On the technical side, I suggest writing in your sandbox and then moving it - it creates a rather ugly edit history! You can use another page that you create in your user space, use the article for creation process, or even write directly in article space (once you feel ready to do so).

To reply, leave a comment here and begin it with {{Re|Klbrain}}. (Message delivered via the Page Curation tool, on behalf of the reviewer.)
