100 Wikidays topics
Hi Rebecca, I'm considering doing the #100wikidays challenge and, as you're an alumna of this particular activity, I was hoping you could shed some light on how to choose topics. I know the wiki isn't finished and never will be, but at the same time, the idea of finding 100 individual topics that don't already have articles (but are noteworthy enough to merit inclusion) somewhat does my head in!
All the best,

- Hey! Great to hear from you, and that is a tough question. At the time when I did my first run it was 2015 so it coincided with the start of Women in Red so I focused on a lot of Irish women, and a lot were still missing at that point which made life a bit easier. I look at sources like the Dictionary of Irish Biography, Strickland's Dictionary of Irish Artists or other sources like that that tend to confer notability almost by default. Then list articles - so museums and galleries in Ireland, monuments, protected landscapes (and these sort of geographical places are easier on notability, and listed sites you can get so used to writing them it's almost like having a template). Otherwise article request lists, Women in Red lists, using images from photo competitions like Wiki Loves Monuments or Earth to identify missing articles, translation challenges during campaigns like CEE Spring, I've used them all! I don't know if that's overly helpful, but the main thing I found was to vary the topics to stop from getting bored (I even made it through 366 days in 2020!). Feel free to take a look at my lists linked on my talk page (if you have already) and take anything that piques your interest. I'm less focused on new articles at the moment unless the mood takes me, and I'm often quite niche these days :D Smirkybec (talk) 00:44, 24 March 2026 (UTC)

Wikipedia:Destubathon of the Americas
You are invited to participate in the Destubathon of the Americas, a contest/editathon which will run from May 1 to May 31. The goal is to destub as many of our 475,000+ stubs for the Americas (from Alaska down to Chile) as possible. A good chance to have fun in expanding many of our old stale stubs and win up to £2000 ($2680) in Amazon vouchers for expanding stub articles. Sign up in the Contestants/participants section on the contest page if interested. Even if not interested in prizes you are still warmly welcome to participate in it as an editathon! Hopefully we can achieve something significant in the month of May together! ♦ Dr. Blofeld 17:34, 15 April 2026 (UTC)
