I've left a comment on your Articles for Creation submission, which can be viewed at Draft:Selepa leucogonia. Thanks! Theroadislong (talk) 15:57, 26 March 2026 (UTC)
Yes, but most moths in the region are very understudied. The wiki page populates the "About" section on iNaturalist, without one that section is blank. I am working with the University of The Gambia to increase access to educational material about local Lepidoptera, this is part of that effort. As more of the community is engaged, more information will become available in this underrepresented region. Smithsqrd (talk) 16:05, 26 March 2026 (UTC)

There isn't a lot of information about West African moths, this is a very underrepresented region. I am working with the University of The Gambia to increase access to educational material about local Lepidoptera. Wiki pages populate the "About" section on iNaturalist, so without a page that section is empty. We are trying to recruit students to upload citizen science observations of local insects so that they can be studied, that is difficult to do if the "About" section on those platforms is empty.
Please reconsider. Smithsqrd (talk) 16:52, 26 March 2026 (UTC)

Hi and some advice

Hi, I've been reviewing new articles at AFC and have noticed lots of short drafts being submitted, in general it is better to create slightly more extended articles. In addition, iNaturalist is considered an unreliable source per WP:INATURALIST PeriodicEditor (talk) 16:52, 26 March 2026 (UTC)

I'm not using iNat as a primary source, I am using GBIF and AfroMoths. However, since iNat uses Wikipedia pages to populate the "About" section, there is bound to be some reference to that page (They also supply a template for creating the wiki page on the species profile).
There really isn't much information available about local Lepidoptera, this region is extremely underrepresented. I am working with the University of The Gambia to increase access to educational material about local Lepidoptera, this is part of that process. Smithsqrd (talk) 17:01, 26 March 2026 (UTC)
Okay, I agree with the second point but using a source that uses Wikipedia would be WP:CIRC PeriodicEditor (talk) 17:10, 26 March 2026 (UTC)
It's only a source because of the template they provide, I am always including additional sources.
I also am in the process of compiling information about each species, but I figured the best first step is to create the page in the first place. It makes sense to me that all currently accepted species would have a wiki page. Smithsqrd (talk) 17:17, 26 March 2026 (UTC)
This is an example of the template they provide:
https://www.inaturalist.org/taxa/689405-Selepa-leucogonia
The "About" section is directly linked to Wikipedia, so it's not a source at all unless a wiki page exists. Smithsqrd (talk) 17:22, 26 March 2026 (UTC)
Here's an example of what a profile looks like if the wiki page exists:
