DYK for Archibald John Davies
On 3 April 2026, Did you know was updated with a fact from the article Archibald John Davies, which you recently nominated. The fact was ... that stained glass artist Archibald John Davies ran a studio for 47 years at Bromsgrove Guild of Applied Arts, producing hundreds of works (example pictured)? The nomination discussion and review may be seen at Template:Did you know nominations/Archibald John Davies. You are welcome to check how many pageviews the nominated article or articles got while on the front page (here's how, Archibald John Davies), and the hook may be added to the statistics page after its run on the Main Page has completed. Finally, if you know of an interesting fact from another recently created article, then please feel free to nominate it.

Happy Easter! -- Gerda Arendt (talk) 15:59, 5 April 2026 (UTC)
- Happy Easter to you too! Love the beautiful pic, thank you. Storye book (talk) 19:53, 5 April 2026 (UTC)
- Thank you! - Can you help me with a better alt text for Fanny Hensel? --Gerda Arendt (talk) 13:14, 7 April 2026 (UTC)
- I've re-written the alt, but I cannot make it work with mouseover after saving. Does it work for you? Please change or shorten the wording as you wish. Storye book (talk) 14:39, 7 April 2026 (UTC)
- Thank you. It works for me. When I hover over it, I see a lot of file info, and at the top (below the title): "alt text:" and your beautiful text. --Gerda Arendt (talk) 16:38, 7 April 2026 (UTC)
- Glad it works. At my location, I am not always able to see the alt working, and when I do, I only see the alt text. Cheers. Storye book (talk) 16:45, 7 April 2026 (UTC)
- Alvaro Cassuto pic? like here --Gerda Arendt (talk) 14:51, 8 April 2026 (UTC)
- Cassuto done. Storye book (talk) 18:28, 8 April 2026 (UTC)
- That's nice, thank you. Someone removed the pic for Ingrid Schmithüsen as a BLP violation (strange enough for a woman wo died), - is that invitation to add a nonfree better one? --Gerda Arendt (talk) 18:54, 8 April 2026 (UTC)
- There is only the unattractive one on Commons. Unless you can find a better free image, we cannot have an image. Alternatively, would you like to start a discussion on whether we can replace the only-available-free-image-which-happens-to-be-too-ugly with a pretty non-free one? Worth a try? I guess you would have to start by getting the ugly one deleted due to being potentially insulting to the family of the deceased? Again, worth a try? Storye book (talk) 19:04, 8 April 2026 (UTC)

unattractive of expressive? - It would be up to the one who removed it to start a deletion discussion, - the pic is on my talk since Easter, and a nonfree one couldn't be there. Did you listen to her Mahler - song quoted in her notice of death? - What I came for was asking for a pic for Helene Pons. --Gerda Arendt (talk) 08:16, 9 April 2026 (UTC)
- Sorry, I misunderstood, and thought that you did not like the picture. I still don't like it myself, but I should not have mentioned that. I've done the Pons image, though it is rather blurry - but too pretty to ignore, I thought. There is one other rather plain picture available on her website here, but I'm sure it's dated after 1931, and we can't use a non-free image if we have a free image. - Thank you, love it! I copied her infobox from Ita Maximowna. --Gerda Arendt (talk) 10:32, 9 April 2026 (UTC)
- Ooh, yes, they are quite similar - very useful! Storye book (talk) 10:33, 9 April 2026 (UTC)
- pics for Heinz Hennig and Kalevi Kiviniemi? The latter had one that was deleted. --Gerda Arendt (talk) 21:53, 10 April 2026 (UTC)
- Hennig done. No large close-up of face available. Storye book (talk) 08:13, 11 April 2026 (UTC)
- Kiviniemi done. No smiley pic found, but this one looks as if he is listening? Storye book (talk) 08:38, 11 April 2026 (UTC)
- I like both. Kiviniemi was a bit of fanatic. He had a day in between two concerts and played one in our church, falling in love with the instrument, not offering any look to our nice old town. - Walter Neuhäusser pic?
- Walter Neuhäusser pic? centenary soon, going to nominate for DYK today - have to. --Gerda Arendt (talk) 13:11, 16 April 2026 (UTC)
- Neuhäusser done. I would not usually use a partial picture of the head, but I could not find another one which was good enough and directly identified him. There are quite a few people out there with the same name. Actually I like the partial picture, because it's quite dramatic, and shows some character. I hope that's OK. I also created his Commons category. Nice buildings! Storye book (talk) 17:49, 16 April 2026 (UTC)
- Thanks for all, and I obliged and added all refs to the buildings. I agree with the pic choice! - Today's FA is Bridge, - a broad topic by many. My father loved bridges, and I wrote a few articles with that in mind (Empress Elisabeth Bridge, adding to Chain bridge and Müngsten Bridge, the latter for childhood memory), and also thinking of bridges between people. - I brought two bios to the same page, Christian Schwarz-Schilling and Bill Ramsey whose regular Swingtime I used to hear in the car driving to choir rehearsals ;) --Gerda Arendt (talk) 19:49, 17 April 2026 (UTC)
- Osvaldas Balakauskas pic? --Gerda Arendt (talk) 08:59, 18 April 2026 (UTC)
- Balakauskas done. Storye book (talk) 09:26, 18 April 2026 (UTC)
- Thank you, linked from the main page the fourth day, and today I even translated into German. Over all that I overlooked Oleg Maisenberg which is sad because I heard him play live. Article is in a sad state, would profit from a pic. I haven't seen one, just start looking around. --Gerda Arendt (talk) 21:00, 23 April 2026 (UTC)
- Maisenberg done. I really like this one. That's how an artist should look - dramatic, beautiful, and more than a bit hippy. ;-)Storye book (talk)

Wikipedia:Destubathon of the Americas
You are invited to participate in the Destubathon of the Americas, a contest/editathon which will run from May 1 to May 31. The goal is to destub as many of our 475,000+ stubs for the Americas (from Alaska down to Chile) as possible. A good chance to have fun in expanding many of our old stale stubs and win up to £2000 ($2680) in Amazon vouchers for expanding stub articles. Sign up in the Contestants/participants section on the contest page if interested. Even if not interested in prizes you are still warmly welcome to participate in it as an editathon! Hopefully we can achieve something significant in the month of May together! ♦ Dr. Blofeld 17:36, 15 April 2026 (UTC)
