Welcome!

Hi Telecineguy, and let me echo the welcome to Wikipedia! I notice you've made a lot of edits to television and videotape-related articles, and I just thought I should mention WP:JARGON (ie, just remember Wikipedia is for a general audience) and WP:CAPS (Wikipedia capitalization), though by the looks of your most recent edits, you might have read these already!

As someone who obviously knows something about the tech side of things, I'd be interested on your take on two articles I started, An Evening with Fred Astaire and The Edsel Show, if you can add anything to them. If, for example, you know anything about the technical issues regarding 405-line television (and BBC One, which contains the early history of the BBC Television Service), please add it. Of course, there are lots of other articles - just follow the links or check the categories at the bottom to find those that are related.

I hope you enjoy your time here on Wikipedia! Regards, ProhibitOnions (T) 22:52, 5 March 2007 (UTC)

Welding Shipyards

Thank you for subject article. I have just one suggestion. Are you quite certain the five-inch gun mounted on these tankers was the 5"/25? The 5-inch/38-caliber gun was much more widely used on defensively equipped merchant ships. Thewellman (talk) 21:27, 12 June 2022 (UTC)

A barnstar for you!

The Original Barnstar
For your amazing article, Naval Base Trinidad!! Buckshot06 (talk) 11:27, 6 August 2022 (UTC)

Many thanks again for the super article!! Buckshot06 (talk) 11:29, 6 August 2022 (UTC)

Hate to mention it, but this article has a typo:
The US Navy started construction at Trinidad on January 193, 1941

Fleet tugs

I saw what you did with the List of auxiliaries of the United States Navy § Fleet Ocean Tugs (ATF, T-ATF) and was inspired by it. I thought that this 'see also' link belonged better with the earlier List of auxiliaries of the United States Navy § Fleet Tugs (AT) section, so I extensively revised it and added multiple V type boat wlinks, one for each class. Please take a look! Tfdavisatsnetnet (talk) 19:20, 27 August 2022 (UTC)

Bravo you

Smol California Butterfly

I have never understood how to give out barnstars so in lieu, here is an award I just invented: Congrats to you Telecineguy as the inaugural winner of Smol California Butterfly Award! You have done excellent article-creation work for many years (Naval Base San Pedro comes to mind) but thank you especially for all the recent California Historical Landmark article creations. Nice job. jengod (talk) 20:44, 2 November 2023 (UTC)

Invitation to join New pages patrol

Hello Telecineguy!

  • The New Pages Patrol is currently struggling to keep up with the influx of new articles needing review. We could use a few extra hands to help.
  • We think that someone with your activity and experience is very likely to meet the guidelines for granting.
  • Reviewing/patrolling a page doesn't take much time, but it requires a strong understanding of Wikipedia’s CSD policy and notability guidelines.
  • Kindly read the tutorial before making your decision, and feel free to post on the project talk page with questions.
  • If patrolling new pages is something you'd be willing to help out with, please consider applying here.

Thank you for your consideration. We hope to see you around!

Hymer

Hi Telecineguy. Please do not take this as presumptuous, but I have some concerns about your edits at Hymer. Thor Industries is known to have paid editors working on articles relating to their companies, and it doesn't seem like you've made any disclosures regarding this page. If you might be able to speak to your edits on this page to clear this up I'd appreciate it. Kylemahar902 (talk) 01:25, 20 February 2025 (UTC)

  • Thank you the note. But I am unsure of your concern. I had a Volkswagen Westfalia Camper for years (why I wrote/started Westfalia-Werke and I just moved up to a Thor Class B van, so no one paid me, I paid them. I also started Rapido Group, not in the Thor group. If in doubt you should first check the the writer's user page, see how long they have had an account (since 2007 over 2,709 pages created). You can look at all the pages I started here User:Telecineguy. 16:52, 20 February 2025 (UTC)
I'm sorry if my comment came across as standoffish. I did notice your longstanding service to Wikipedia and I commend you for it. I didn't mean to make accusations, only ask for clarification. I've been digging into the corporate side of Wikipedia and it's mind-boggling how much sneaky paid contributions seem to be going on, including by editors who have been working on the project far, far longer than I. If I had noticed you started Rapido Group, I wouldn't have said anything - so apologies that I missed that. I'll take this as a lesson that if I'm going to ask about such things, I should put in quite a bit more research first. Kylemahar902 (talk) 17:14, 20 February 2025 (UTC)
  • Thank you for the reply, sorry to hear about the problems. I have had to fix corporate edits also, mostly in the Film and TV tech pages I have started.Telecine Guy (talk) 18:32, 20 February 2025 (UTC)

Saltillo Van Assembly Plant moved to draftspace

Thanks for your contributions to Saltillo Van Assembly Plant. Unfortunately, I do not think it is ready for publishing at this time because it needs more sources to establish notability, it has too many problems of language or grammar and a large amount of the current sources seem to be promotional/primary. I have converted your article to a draft which you can improve, undisturbed for a while.

Please see more information at Help:Unreviewed new page. When the article is ready for publication, please click on the "Submit the draft for review!" button at the top of the page OR move the page back. WormEater13 (talkcontribs) 11:41, 11 May 2025 (UTC)

  • "establish notability" This is a large plant that makes lots of vans. Thank you. Telecine Guy (talk) 17:30, 11 May 2025 (UTC)
  • I have added more refs and text. Thank you for the feedback.Telecine Guy (talk) 04:02, 31 October 2025 (UTC)

YF273 photo

This is my first time using the interface and would prefer to send private message so I can send via email- can't figure how to do it. The photo wikimedia tags is incorrect- may be a navsource issue. Photo says taken on 1/13/41 so "built 1945" is wrong. I believe it was commisioned 1/13/41. Also draws 5 ft of water, not the 4 in the tag. A high res from the Navy History & Heritage Command number 19-N-23210 is on the net. Based on your other work you are in the Pacific North west. NAve you ever used the National Archive facility in Seattle. If you have any NAvy photog questions I may be able to help. I'm MailDaveMiller at the usual "G" site.
