Hey, regarding the most recent edits to Jaiden Animations, is there a specific policy that suggests removing categories when more specific subcategories already cover them? (e.g. 20th century people being covered by 20th century American people) I often hesitate messing with categories since I don't have the policy on hand that supports trimming an article's cats down. ᴸᵃᶠᶠʸTaffer💬(they/she) 15:04, 3 February 2026 (UTC)

@LaffyTaffer Yes, there are policies about keeping things in subcategories if possible. I'm not entirely familiar with exact specifications, but in general, things should be in subcategories. For example, listing someone in Category:21st-century American male actors, instead just Category:American actors. In this case, I removed "20th-century people" becouse it's too brode of a category, which would include thousands if not millions of articles if applied to all applicble entires. @Zackmann08 I added all categories basing on information on the article. I believe categories on Wikipedia are to be used, and should not be limited to make the list "shorter and nicer looking". I understand policing to make sure people aren't abusing categories, but I do not believe I fall in that category.
