A lengthy welcome

Welcome to Wikipedia. I've added a welcome message to the top of this page that gives a great deal of information about Wikipedia. I hope you find it useful.

Additionally, I hope you don't mind if I share some of my thoughts on starting out as a new editor on Wikipedia: If I could get editors in your situation to follow just one piece of advice, it would be this: Learn Wikipedia by working only on non-contentious topics until you have a feel for the normal editing process and the policies that usually come up when editing casually. You'll find editing to be fun, easy, and rewarding. The rare disputes are resolved quickly and easily in collaboration.

Working on biographical information about living persons is far more difficult. Wikipedia's Biographies of living persons policy requires strict adherence to multiple content policies, and applies to all information about living persons including talk pages.

If you have a relationship with the topics you want to edit, then you will need to review Wikipedia's Conflict of interest policy, which may require you to disclose your relationship and restrict your editing depending upon how you are affiliated with the subject matter. Regardless, editing in a manner that promotes an entity or viewpoint over others can appear to be detrimental to the purpose of Wikipedia and the neutrality required in articles.

Some topic areas within Wikipedia have special editing restrictions that apply to all editors. It's best to avoid these topics until you are extremely familiar with all relevant policies and guidelines.

If you work from reliable, independent sources, you shouldn't go far wrong. WP:RSP and WP:RSN are helpful in determining if a source is reliable.

If you find yourself in a disagreement with another editor, it's best to discuss the matter on the relevant talk page.

I hope you find some useful information in all this, and welcome again. --Hipal (talk) 19:47, 17 September 2024 (UTC)

New Bourbon Port Authority moved to draftspace

Thanks for your contributions to New Bourbon Port Authority. Unfortunately, I do not think it is ready for publishing at this time because it needs more sources to establish notability. I have converted your article to a draft which you can improve, undisturbed for a while.

Please see more information at Help:Unreviewed new page. When the article is ready for publication, please click on the "Submit your draft for review!" button at the top of the page OR move the page back. JTtheOG (talk) 18:10, 20 September 2024 (UTC)

Ways to improve New Bourbon Regional Port Authority

Hello, Themeparks,

Thank you for creating New Bourbon Regional Port Authority.

I have tagged the page as having some issues to fix, as a part of our page curation process and note that:

You have moved the article to main space without adding any additional sources, as had been requested. Can you add any additional sources? All there is no is the single website, included four times in the article. This is not sufficient to demonstrate notability.

The tags can be removed by you or another editor once the issues they mention are addressed. If you have questions, leave a comment here and begin it with {{Re|Bastun}}. Remember to sign your reply with ~~~~. For broader editing help, please visit the Teahouse.

Delivered via the Page Curation tool, on behalf of the reviewer.

Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. An automated process has detected that when you recently edited History of Kentucky, you added links pointing to the disambiguation pages Whippings and Border state. Such links are usually incorrect, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of unrelated topics with similar titles. (Read the FAQ  Join us at the DPL WikiProject.)

It's OK to remove this message. Also, to stop receiving these messages, follow these opt-out instructions. Thanks, --DPL bot (talk) 19:57, 14 March 2025 (UTC)

JTtheOG is at it again

I see that you had a disagreement with JTtheOG over the 2026 Alabama Crimson Tide football team. I also tried to put Draft:2026 Kentucky Wildcats football team into the article space, believing it to be ready, only to have him put it back to the draft space. Give me your opinion, do you think it complete enough for the article space? Thanks in advance. rogerd (talk) 16:12, 30 January 2026 (UTC)

Can you at least find some WP:SIGCOV for it? The sourcing is weak. There's an entirely new coaching staff, for starters... JTtheOG (talk) 18:49, 30 January 2026 (UTC)
This is rich. I posted to your talk page asking for your rationale, and you ignored it, but when I made mention to someone else, then you respond. New coaches almost always bring in an entirely new staff, the most unusual thing about what Stein has done is retained one of the old staff. 2026 Auburn Tigers football team has a new coach, too, with fewer independent references than I provided, so why haven't you moved it to the draft space? The only references outside those for the athletics department in 2026 Georgia Bulldogs football team are two articles about the game with Florida. What about 2026 Missouri Tigers football team. All of these articles have sourcing that is as "weak" as the Kentucky article. Thank you for attention to this matter. rogerd (talk) 01:28, 31 January 2026 (UTC)
You might've been talking to someone else, but I was directly pinged all the same. With that being said, my apologies about failing to respond on my talk, I've just got a lot on my plate.
Yes, all of these articles have extremely weak sources. You'll find that I did not actually review any of these, but it's what happens when people rush to earn the prestigious title of being the first to create a skeleton article 9 or 10 months before the season starts. You'll also see that I did in fact draftify the Missouri article last month. However, in contrast to the UK article at the time of draftification, all three at least have independent news sources. Thus, as per WP:DRAFTIFY, I sent it to draftspace to allow for sufficient independent SIGCOV to be found and added to the article. JTtheOG (talk) 06:23, 31 January 2026 (UTC)
