Managing a conflict of interest
Hello, TozenChristos. We welcome your contributions, but if you have an external relationship with the people, places or things you have written about on the page Trinity Theological College, Singapore, you may have a conflict of interest (COI). Editors with a conflict of interest may be unduly influenced by their connection to the topic. See the conflict of interest guideline and FAQ for article subjects for more information. We ask that you:
- avoid editing or creating articles about yourself, your family, friends, colleagues, company, organization, clients, or competitors;
- propose changes on the talk pages of affected articles (you can use the Edit Request Wizard), including links or details of reliable sources that support your suggestions;
- disclose your conflict of interest when discussing affected articles (see Wikipedia:Conflict of interest § How to disclose a COI);
- avoid linking to your organization's website in other articles (see Wikipedia:Spam § External link spamming);
- do your best to comply with Wikipedia's content policies.
In addition, you are required by the Wikimedia Foundation's terms of use to disclose your employer, client, and affiliation with respect to any contribution which forms all or part of work for which you receive, or expect to receive, compensation. See Wikipedia:Paid-contribution disclosure.
Also, editing for the purpose of advertising, publicizing, or promoting anyone or anything is not permitted. Thank you. Aleain (talk) 08:42, 21 January 2026 (UTC)
- Dear Aleain,
- Thank you for your message. I am a student at the Nanyang Technological University in Singapore, and as part of my Collection Development and Management course for my Master in Science (Information Studies) programme, we had to create Wiki accounts and make edits and contributions to Wikipedia. The reason I chose to do these edits for TTC are as follows:
- The current information given on the degrees awarded was incorrect and incomplete
- I am currently a Library Officer at the college library and have access to materials about the college
- I did read about COI, but did not understand how correcting errors constituted any of the concerns mentioned. I am not paid to make these edits nor have any intention of promoting the school. If the links to the school website come across as advertisement or promotion, I am happy to not include them. Also, I've been trying to find where I can state my place of employment/studies in my profile, but am unable to find it.
- I did see other Wiki pages that needed editing, but since I am not familiar with many of those subjects, I chose to edit the TTC page since I had all the relevant information on hand.
- As part of our assignments, we also have to expand or create a new page, and I would really like to either expand the current TTC page, or create a page about the college library. But according to the terms, this would be a COI issue. So how does one go about creating a page that one has no interest or information on?
- Please let me know how I can overcome this dilemma. Looking forward to your response.
- Yours,
- TC TozenChristos (talk) 01:56, 22 January 2026 (UTC)
- Dear Aleain,
- Upon checking the revision history of the TTC page, I noticed many of the contributions were made by a bot, hence the errors.

- Dear Aleain,
- I have since made an Edit Request in the Talk page. I do hope you will be able to review that request. Thank you!
