Why can't I edit some particular pages?
Some pages that have been vandalized repeatedly are semi-protected, meaning that editing by new or unregistered users is prohibited through technical measures. If you have an account that is four days old and has made at least 10 edits, then you can bypass semi-protection and edit any semi-protected page. Some pages, such as highly visible templates, are fully-protected, meaning that only administrators can edit them. If this is not the case, you may have been blocked or your IP address caught up in a range block.
Where can I experiment with editing Wikipedia?
Use the main sandbox or create your own personal sandbox to experiment.
How do I create an article?
See how to create your first article, then use the Article Wizard to create one, and add references to the article as explained below.
How do I create citations?
  1. Do a search on Google or your preferred search engine for the subject of the Wikipedia article that you want to create a citation for.
  2. Find a website that supports the claim you are trying to find a citation for.
  3. In a new tab/window, go to the citation generator, click on the 'An arbitrary website' bubble, and fill out as many fields as you can about the website you just found.
  4. Click the 'Get reference wiki text' button.
  5. Highlight, and then copy (Ctrl+C or Apple+C), the resulting text (it will be something like <ref> {{cite web | .... }}</ref>, copy the whole thing).
  6. In the Wikipedia article, after the claim you found a citation for, paste (Ctrl+V or Apple+V) the text you copied.
  7. If the article does not have a References or Notes section (or the like), add this to the bottom of the page, but above the External Links section and the categories:
==References==
{{Reflist}}
What is a WikiProject, and how do I join one?
A WikiProject is a group of editors that are interested in improving the coverage of certain topics on Wikipedia. (See this page for a complete list of WikiProjects.) If you would like to help, add your username to the list that is on the bottom of the WikiProject page.

June 2024

Hi! I was looking at your edits on the Template:Phase I, Chennai Metro. As the template specifies Phase I, this should only show the operational blue/green lines. The extension and interchanges you have added recently can be shown in a new template separately for the blue and green lines (similar to what you have created for the other three lines), which can be added in the appropriate pages. Thanks! Magentic Manifestations (talk) 09:37, 13 June 2024 (UTC)

The extension line is indicated by uexBHF/uexHST and shown in light colour, clearly different from opertional line. TravelLover05 (talk) 09:43, 13 June 2024 (UTC)

Metro stations

Hi, not all metro stations deserve their own article. Please see WP:GNG for the standard that needs to be met for metro and railway stations. A new/upcoming metro stations would find it hard to meet that standard. Happy editing! -MPGuy2824 (talk) 12:13, 14 April 2025 (UTC)

Only gave articles and done edits for few selected metro stations to be opened in near future, that had enough citations from latest news coverages so that WP:GNG standard is met. TravelLover05 (talk) 12:25, 14 April 2025 (UTC)
Metro stations at the terminus of metro lines might have a better chance of passing GNG. The stations in between probably won't. -MPGuy2824 (talk) 13:41, 14 April 2025 (UTC)

Information icon Hello, I'm JalenBarks. I noticed that you recently removed all content from a page. Please do not do this. Blank pages are harmful to Wikipedia because they have a tendency to confuse readers. As a rule, if you discover a duplicate article, please redirect it to an appropriate existing page. If a page has been vandalised, please revert it to the last legitimate version. If you feel that the content of a page is inappropriate, please edit the page and replace it with appropriate content. If you believe there is no hope for the page, please see the deletion policy for how to proceed. If this was a mistake, don't worry; the removed content has been restored. Madhavaram Milk Colony metro station moved to draftspace

Thanks for your contributions to Madhavaram Milk Colony metro station. Unfortunately, I do not think it is ready for publishing at this time because it needs more sources to establish notability and Right now, there is not a single reference from an independent, reliable source which goes into depth about the station.. I have converted your article to a draft which you can improve, undisturbed for a while.

Please see more information at Help:Unreviewed new page. When the article is ready for publication, please click on the "Submit the draft for review!" button at the top of the page OR move the page back. Onel5969 TT me 09:51, 19 July 2025 (UTC)

Annamalai (BJP politician) moved to draftspace

Thanks for your contributions to Annamalai (BJP politician). Unfortunately, I do not think it is ready for publishing at this time because See Wikipedia:Deletion review/Log/2024 March 21 / Wikipedia:Deletion review/Log/2024 March 21. I have converted it to a draft which you can improve, undisturbed for a while.

I believe it’s been a while since the previous decline, so once you’re done with the draft, the best way forward is to ask for a review at WP:DRV or WP:AN. Bypassing previous consensus and recreating it in mainspace isn’t advised. Jeraxmoira🐉 (talk) 15:40, 11 December 2025 (UTC)
Both K. Annamalai and this newly created article of mine Annamalai (BJP politician) are of 2 different political personalities in Tamil Nadu politics. The former one belongs to AIADMK party. The article I have created belongs to a different person, K Annamalai, a prominent figure of Bharatiya Janata Party. The draft you have mentioned only directs to former political figure K. Annamalai TravelLover05 (talk) 15:54, 11 December 2025 (UTC)
The article created - Annamalai (BJP politician) cites high-quality sources, meets and satisfies all notability guidelines. It is of a prominent political figure in India notable for an article TravelLover05 (talk) 16:04, 11 December 2025 (UTC)
You altered my review comment at Draft:Annamalai (BJP politician). Don't do that again. Wikishovel (talk) 17:12, 11 December 2025 (UTC)

Annamalai (BJP politician) moved to draftspace

Thanks for your contributions to Annamalai (BJP politician) 2. Unfortunately, I do not think it is ready for publishing at this time because it needs more sources to establish notability and due to title gaming. I have converted it to a draft which you can improve, undisturbed for a while.

Please see more information at Help:Unreviewed new page. When the article is ready for publication, please click on the "Submit the draft for review!" button at the top of the page OR move the page back. DoubleGrazing (talk) 16:28, 11 December 2025 (UTC)

This is not an appropriate title as it does not follow our naming conventions. You presumably placed it at that title because you were aware that eg. K. Annamalai (BJP politician) and many other variations are already protected. This is WP:TITLEGAMING, and is considered disruptive.
Please put the draft you created through AfC review, where its suitability for publication is assessed. Thank you. -- DoubleGrazing (talk) 16:33, 11 December 2025 (UTC)

Your submission at Articles for creation: Annamalai (BJP politician) (December 26)

Your recent article submission to Articles for Creation has been reviewed. Unfortunately, it has not been accepted at this time. The reason left by RangersRus was:
This submission's references do not show that the subject qualifies for a Wikipedia article—that is, they do not show significant coverage (not just passing mentions) about the subject in published, reliable, secondary sources that are independent of the subject (see the guidelines on the notability of people). Before any resubmission, additional references meeting these criteria should be added (see technical help and learn about mistakes to avoid when addressing this issue). If no additional references exist, the subject is not suitable for Wikipedia.
Please check the submission for any additional comments left by the reviewer. You are encouraged to edit the submission to address the issues raised and resubmit after they have been resolved.

Your submission at Articles for creation: Kuppusamy Annamalai (January 19)

Your recent article submission has been rejected and cannot be resubmitted. If you have further questions, you can ask at the Articles for creation help desk or use Wikipedia's real-time chat help. The reason left by Robert McClenon was: This topic is not sufficiently notable for inclusion in Wikipedia. The comment the reviewer left was: A draft should speak for itself and should clearly indicate how there has been significant coverage by independent sources. This draft is written from the standpoint of the subject and does not explain how there has been third-party significant coverage.

This draft was submitted using only the last name and a disambiguator as the title, which is a blatant attempt to game the system and does not show good faith. I have renamed the draft to the full name of the subject. This draft has also been reviewed and deleted under that name.

See Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/K. Annamalai (I.P.S)

This draft has been Rejected by a reviewer in the Articles for Creation review process. DO NOT resubmit this draft or attempt to resubmit this draft or prepare or submit a draft that is substantially the same as this draft. You may request a discussion with the rejecting reviewer, or you may request a discussion with the community at the Teahouse, but the discussion will probably advise you of the reasons for the rejection. If this draft is resubmitted, or an attempt is made to resubmit this draft or an equivalent draft, without addressing the reasons for the Rejection, a topic-ban or a partial block may be requested against the submitting editor, and the draft may be nominated for deletion.

You may ask for advice about Rejection at the Teahouse.
