Question from Renichin on Roofman (17:33, 2 March 2026)

Hello, im a new editor and would like to learn how i can turn words into links! In the plot section, it states that Jeffrey is a fugitive, i think it could be beneficial to link the word “fugitive” for anyone who isn’t familiar with what that means. Any help is appreciated, i also understand if you dont think this is a necessary change :) --Renichin (talk) 17:33, 2 March 2026 (UTC)

@Renichin: Hi! Sorry it seems I missed this notification. You can make links by placing double brackets around something, e.g., [[User:Vermont]] becomes User:Vermont. You can also have separate targets and visible text, e.g., if I wanted it to link to User:Vermont but only say Vermont, I could do [[User:Vermont|Vermont]] which becomes Vermont. Question from Iancook57 (12:21, 11 March 2026)

Hi Vermont, for the past couple of days I've been updating my own Wiki page which was originally set up years ago without my involvement and has been untouched since then. I am now reading the COI pages and wondering what I should undo and/or how I should disclose this. Can you advise, thanks, Ian --Iancook57 (talk) 12:21, 11 March 2026 (UTC)

@Iancook57: Hello! Thanks for asking, and thank you for reading the COI page. At this point, there's nothing to do on your end. Optimally an uninvolved editor will go through and make edits where needed - I'll do so if I have the time. In future, it'd be best to make edit requests rather than making edits directly. In the event you do make one and it sits for a while without action, feel free to ping me. Best, Vermont (🐿️🏳️‍🌈) 00:21, 12 March 2026 (UTC)
Thanks Vermont, all the best Iancook57 (talk) 10:02, 12 March 2026 (UTC)

Question from Jameskida (18:11, 12 March 2026)

Hello Rae, my mentor! I hope you are doing well. I'm returning to you again 🙂

This question is seeking your guidance. I have been thinking of making a separate page for each character/hero in Dota 2. An example of what I would like to create is the wiki for Leon S. Kennedy of the Resident Evil franchise (a single wiki page dedicated to an individual character).

Since I’m still very attached to Dota 2 and actively playing it, I thought it might be interesting to create similar pages for Dota 2 characters.

I would like to hear your thoughts before I begin this process. Do you feel creating a separate wiki page for each character would have value or contribute more positively to the community in another manner? Your feedback would be greatly appreciated. --Jameskida (talk) 18:11, 12 March 2026 (UTC)

@Jameskida: Hello! Thanks for asking :)
I don't think there could be separate pages for each character. Each would need to independently satisfy the notability guideline, so there would need to be significant coverage of each individual character from reliable, independent sources. There might be enough coverage to make a list of Dota 2 characters (see List of generation VI Pokémon as an example), but there would need to be coverage about the characters specifically - and I'm not very familiar with video game sourcing.
Relevance for an encyclopedia often doesn't coincide with relevance for fans of a topic (video game/tv show/etc.). Other wikis (e.g. Fandom) exist for detailed information relevant to fans, but Wikipedia exists for encyclopedically relevant content. We need independent sourcing to show encyclopedic relevance.
Are there sources about Dota 2 characters that you could use? I'd be happy to look through them with you and see if it's sufficient to support an article. Best, Vermont (🐿️🏳️‍🌈) 19:17, 16 March 2026 (UTC)
Thanks for answering my question, mentor. What I’ll do now is create a character page in my sandbox, and once it’s ready, I’ll share it with you so you can review it. What do you think? Jameskida (talk) 23:13, 16 March 2026 (UTC)
@Jameskida: Sounds good! Vermont (🐿️🏳️‍🌈) 23:52, 16 March 2026 (UTC)

Question from STACKofBRIEFS (09:27, 17 March 2026)

Hello! I'm a beginner and this is my first time editing a wikipedia entry. I have a question: Regarding the Pulok Kumar Mukherjee wiki entry, there are too much primary sources. Do you know websites that could help with citing for individuals working on academics? I saw ResearchGate and Google Scholar, but I'm unsure if they're trustworthy upon a quick search for their reliability as a third-party source. --STACKofBRIEFS (talk) 09:27, 17 March 2026 (UTC)

@STACKofBRIEFS: Thanks for asking, and welcome to Wikipedia! :)
ReseachGate and Google Scholar are sites which index other sources. I personally use Google Scholar a lot, but I never site it directly, I cite the sources it finds. However, most of that will likely be Mukherjee's research rather than sources about his research, so won't fix the primary sources issue.
You'd be looking for sources written by people not connected to Mukherjee about him or his work. I'm not familiar with his field and am not sure where such sources may exist. If you find some sources and have questions, feel free to let me know and we can chat about it. Best, Vermont (🐿️🏳️‍🌈) 12:32, 17 March 2026 (UTC)
