The Task Center
Learn what Wikipedians do and discover how to help. Has a list of maintenance tasks you can do.
- Don't be afraid to edit! Just find something that can be improved and make it better. Other editors will help fix any mistakes you make.
- It's normal to feel a little overwhelmed, but don't worry if you don't understand everything at first—it's fine to edit using common sense.
- If an edit you make is reverted, you can discuss the issue on the article's talk page. Be civil, and don't restore the edit unless there is consensus.
- Always use edit summaries to explain your changes.
- When adding new content to an article, always include a citation to a reliable source.
- If you wish to edit about a subject with which you are affiliated, read our conflict of interest guide and disclose your connection.
- Have fun! Your presence in the Wikipedia community is welcome.
Your sig
You are not allowed to advertise your website in your sig. (And in any case it undermines your credibility.) --𝕁𝕄𝔽 (talk) 14:11, 1 March 2026 (UTC)
- Thanks for the welcome message and the note JMF. I just noticed that external links are not allowed. I have now changed my signature to something more appropriate.
- I'm curious how it undermines ones' credibility. ..... WinnerWind. (talk) 14:14, 1 March 2026 (UTC)
- Ok, the credibility implication is just my opinion. It seems to me that it risks giving the impression that the primary purpose of your contribution is provide a platform advertising and what you have to say is almost incidental. But as it is now a theoretical question, let's leave it at that. 𝕁𝕄𝔽 (talk) 16:37, 1 March 2026 (UTC)
- Got it. Thanks for reminding me of the rules though!
- It is a personal blog site but I get it. ..... WinnerWind. (talk) 16:39, 1 March 2026 (UTC)
