Wikipedia and copyright
Hello Wisher08! Your additions to Gobindachandra Das have been removed in whole or in part, as they appear to have added copyrighted content without evidence that the source material is in the public domain or has been released by its owner or legal agent under a suitably free and compatible copyright license. (To request such a release, see Wikipedia:Requesting copyright permission.) While we appreciate your contributions to Wikipedia, it's important to understand and adhere to guidelines about using information from sources to prevent copyright and plagiarism issues. Here are the key points:
- Limited quotation: You may only copy or translate a small portion of a source. Any direct quotations must be enclosed in double quotation marks (") and properly cited using an inline citation. More information is available on the non-free content page. To learn how to cite a source, see Help:Referencing for beginners.
- Paraphrasing: Beyond limited quotations, you are required to put all information in your own words. Following the source's wording too closely can lead to copyright issues and is not permitted; see Wikipedia:Close paraphrasing. Even when paraphrasing, you must still cite your sources as appropriate.
- Image use guidelines: In most scenarios, only freely licensed or public domain images may be used and these should be uploaded to our sister project, Wikimedia Commons. In some scenarios, non-freely copyrighted content can be used if they meet all ten of our non-free content criteria; Wikipedia:Plain and simple non-free content guide may help with determining a file's eligibility.
- Copyrighted material donation: If you hold the copyright to the content you want to copy, or are a legally designated agent, you may be able to license the text for publication here. Please see Wikipedia:Donating copyrighted materials.
- Copying and translation within Wikipedia: Wikipedia articles can be copied or translated, however they must have proper attribution in accordance with Wikipedia:Copying within Wikipedia. For translation, see Help:Translation § License requirements.
It's very important that contributors understand and follow these practices. Persistent failure to comply may result in being blocked from editing. If you have any questions or need further clarification, please ask them here on this page, or leave a message on my talk page. Thank you. —Compassionate727 (T·C) 14:13, 27 September 2024 (UTC)

Hi Wisher08! I noticed that you recently marked an edit as minor at Mahishya that may not have been. "Minor edit" has a specific definition on Wikipedia—it refers only to superficial edits that could never be the subject of a dispute, such as typo corrections or reverting obvious vandalism. Any edit that changes the meaning of an article is not a minor edit, even if it only concerns a single word. Thank you. Ekdalian (talk) 11:40, 1 October 2024 (UTC)
- Hello! Please pardon my novice errors. It has been only a week since I've started editing. Evidently, I still have a lot to learn. Thanks for correcting me. Wisher08 (talk) 12:39, 1 October 2024 (UTC)
Please do not add or change content, as you did at National Law School of India University, without citing a reliable source. Please review the guidelines at Wikipedia:Citing sources and take this opportunity to add references to the article. Thank you. Thanks, Please feel free to ping/mention -- User4edits (T) 07:44, 4 October 2024 (UTC)
- But wasn't the source I cited reliable enough? I was under the impression that Superlawyer was a reliable source regarding legal news. Moreover, the name of the person I added happens to be alumni of the institution. It's a known and established fact. I don't think there is any dispute regarding it? Wisher08 (talk) 12:49, 4 October 2024 (UTC)
- Please read Who should be included in Alumni?, What are reliable sources?, and Primary, secondary and tertiary sources. Hope these will help you. Thanks, Please feel free to ping/mention -- User4edits (T) 06:01, 5 October 2024 (UTC)
- I'm afraid I still can't see any valid reason as to why that person falls short of qualifying for a mention in the list. Could you please enlighten me? Wisher08 (talk) 17:51, 5 October 2024 (UTC)
- The person you are repeatedly trying to add does not appear notable as per notability guidelines. That individual needs to be notable in order to be added to "notable" alumni. Thanks, Please feel free to ping/mention -- User4edits (T) 09:31, 10 October 2024 (UTC)

- Hello, Wisher08, You didn't fix this issue], after a template was put in this article after you added some contents there. This resulted in large part of the article getting hidden. I restored the previous good version to recover non-problematic contents. You may re-add well sourced contents, but please be careful so that it doesn't violate copy right. Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. An automated process has detected that when you recently edited Prashant Bhushan, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page B.A. Such links are usually incorrect, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of unrelated topics with similar titles. Welcome to Wikipedia, and thank you for your contributions. Although everyone is welcome to contribute constructively to the encyclopedia, please note that there is a Manual of Style that should be followed to maintain a consistent, encyclopedic appearance. Deviating from this style, as you did in Sam Byibesho, disturbs uniformity among articles and may cause readability or accessibility problems. Please take a look at the welcome page to learn more about contributing to this encyclopedia. See MOS:OVERLINK. CodeTalker (talk) 16:21, 28 May 2025 (UTC)
Digambar Biswas moved to draftspace
Hi there! I moved your article Digambar Biswas to the Draft namespace because it currently lacks inline citations and doesn't yet demonstrate notability per Wikipedia's guidelines. You can now find it at Draft:Digambar Biswas.
Feel free to continue editing and improving the draft. Once it has enough reliable sources and coverage, you (or anyone) can submit it for review using the "Submit for review" button at the top. Let me know if you have questions!

Introduction to contentious topics: new version
You have recently edited a page related to the region of South Asia (India, Pakistan, Afghanistan, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh and Nepal), broadly construed, including but not limited to history, politics, ethnicity, and social groups, a topic designated as contentious. This is a brief introduction to contentious topics and does not imply that there are any issues with your editing.
A special set of rules applies to certain topic areas, which are referred to as contentious topics. These are specially designated topics that tend to attract more persistent disruptive editing than the rest of the project and have been designated as contentious topics by the Arbitration Committee. When editing a contentious topic, Wikipedia's norms and policies are more strictly enforced, and Wikipedia administrators have an expanded level of powers and discretion in order to reduce disruption to the project.
Within contentious topics, editors should edit carefully and constructively, refrain from disrupting the encyclopedia, and:
- adhere to the purposes of Wikipedia;
- comply with all applicable policies and guidelines;
- follow editorial and behavioural best practices;
- comply with any page restrictions in force within the area of conflict; and
- refrain from gaming the system.
Additionally, you must be logged in, have 500 edits, and have an account age of 30 days in order to make edits related to two subtopics: (1) Indian military history, or (2) social groups, explicitly including caste associations and political parties related to India, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh and Nepal.
Editors are advised to err on the side of caution if unsure whether making a particular edit is consistent with these expectations. If you have any questions about contentious topics procedures, you may ask them at the arbitration clerks' noticeboard or you may learn more about this contentious topic here. You may also choose to note which contentious topics you know about by using the {{Ctopics/aware}} template.

- Hello @Wisher08, the South Asia contentious topic area as described above applies to your recent edits to Nabadwip. This means, among other things, being careful to ensure that added information is verifiable. Thank you. fifteen thousand two hundred twenty four (talk) 04:51, 6 December 2025 (UTC)
- But the information I uploaded is verifiable through the source. Is there a problem that it's not in English? Is that what you're trying to say? Wisher08 (talk) 05:11, 6 December 2025 (UTC)
- Non-English sources are allowed.
- From my reading, the provided source does not mention a failure to pay taxes to the British Raj, nor the British being made whole by the Janbazar Raj (and there were two buyers of the zamindari they would have been compensated by both buyers, not only Madhusudan Sanyal of Kolkata).
- Additionally a statement like
The city's gained back its religious fervour and cultural glory was reinvigorated under the overview of ...
contains too much puffery, while the sources we use are free to editorialize, our tone should be more dispassionate. fifteen thousand two hundred twenty four (talk) 05:40, 6 December 2025 (UTC)

Note about citations
Hi Wisher08, when citing an article in a journal (as you did here) please use the {{Cite journal}} rather than {{Cite book}} template and provide the title, author etc of the particular article you are citing along with other relevant bibliographical information (such as volume, issue, year, publisher etc). Hello. I have noticed that you often edit without using an edit summary. Please do your best to always fill in the summary field. This helps your fellow editors use their time more productively, rather than spending it unnecessarily scrutinizing and verifying your work. Even a short summary is better than no summary, and summaries are particularly important for large, complex, or potentially controversial edits. To help yourself remember, you may wish to check the "prompt me when entering a blank edit summary" box in your preferences. Thanks! Ekdalian (talk) 11:08, 8 December 2025 (UTC)

Just a quick note: there is no ECR restriction on this page (at the moment). Even though it is covered by CT/SA, the only topics inside that which have ECR restrictions are Indian military history and caste. Having said that, it was a completely useless NOTFORUM comment so I haven't restored it. Thanks, Black Kite (talk) 15:43, 19 March 2026 (UTC)
