2006 NEPGT calendar
I noticed you have done a lot of recent work on the American minitours. Right now I'm writing a page on local minitour player Geoffrey Sisk. I came across this Boston Globe article which has something of a schedule for the New England Pro Golf Tour in 2006. Thought it may be of some help.

- Thanks. May take me a while to get that far! wjematherplease leave a message... 21:12, 7 February 2024 (UTC)
- Ok, please let me know when (or if) you start working on the NEPGT. It would be useful for me. In addition, here is another article about the tour. Looks like it was inaugurated in 2001.

- Another link.

Sorry to bombard you with all these pages but in my research for Sisk I also found a link for something called the North American Pro Golf Tour (NAPGT). I did not see this tour referenced in your minitour section; it may be of some use.

1976 Natal Open
You noted in the your sandbox that the 1976 event was "cancelled." Your source is something called "WoPG 1997." Sorry but I don't know what this is. If you have any more information that would be helpful; I may put this information on the 1975–76 Southern Africa Tour page. And I almost certainly would add this info on the Natal Open page as the event ceased to exist after that year's cancellation.

Oogglywoogly (talk) 00:06, 1 March 2024 (UTC)
- WoPG is Mark McCormack's World of Professional Golf annual. I have a few in my "library" but they're currently buried in the spare room. I'll take a look when I get chance. wjematherplease leave a message... 11:44, 1 March 2024 (UTC)
- Ok if you are capable of retrieving the relevant information that would be great. I suspect that that year's cancellation is related to the general cessation of the event so it could be quite valuable. If it is too much trouble, however, please don't bother.
- Oogglywoogly (talk) 06:27, 6 March 2024 (UTC)Oogglywoogly
- As suspected, it was cancelled after the withdrawal of the title sponsor (Vavasseur International had been taken over), and the NGU couldn't find a replacement.[1]

1999 Asia Golf Circuit
Searched all over to try and find sources and info on what events took place in that year. Absolutely nothing outside of the Kirin Open which we already know of. It leads me to think did any events even take place outside of that one event?? Nothing on the newspaper archives, also tried using Korean news sources using translation but next to nothing. I don’t have McCormack's WoPG 2000 but I assume the only event he lists is the Kirin Open? Jimmymci234 (talk) 12:42, 1 March 2024 (UTC)
- I have WoPG 2000, but McCormack had stopped covering the old Asia Golf Circuit by then. The best I found was a source that said there were 6 tournaments (but that could easily be an error is it was a 1998–99 season). Anyway, as with previous seasons, it's probably safe to say the Kirin Open was the only tournament that mattered. wjematherplease leave a message... 12:52, 1 March 2024 (UTC)

the BC Open
Hi,
I am looking for some info on the BC Open and I see you have updated the page a lot. I want to know what the tournament record for a low round was. Is the the 62 Jay Delsing shot in 1985? Can you point me in the direction as to where you found all of your info and maybe I can dig deeper.
Thank you,
Will Wsaulsbery (talk) 19:37, 17 April 2024 (UTC)
- @Wsaulsbery: Sorry, I don't have that information, but according the article, Hal Sutton shot 61 in the final round in 1995. Old tour media guides are a good starting point for information. wjematherplease leave a message... 06:22, 18 April 2024 (UTC)

Brae Burn Country Club: Scorecard
Hi Wjemather,
I am almost done with the Brae Burn Country Club page. However, there are some closing issues with the scorecard.
- The biggest issues is with a set of tees on the main course. According to the Brae Burn website the main course has green tees as an intermediate set of tees. But on the USGA's website they seem to use white tees for this set. (Fwiw, this BlueGolf website only notes white tees too.) Are the green tees/white tees the same?
- On the Highlands Course there are these combined handicaps. For example, on the 6th hole it is 17/18. Do you know what's up? I have never seen this before.
Thanks,
Oogglywoogly (talk) 07:08, 4 July 2024 (UTC)
- My view is that if we are going to include scorecards (and I don't see the encyclopedic value in having them for most courses) then we should only include the yardages and pars for the longest/championship tees (i.e. those that are notable); omitting things like handicap Stroke Indexes that are not encyclopedic. wjematherplease leave a message... 12:30, 4 July 2024 (UTC)
- That's an interesting idea. However, many clubs we have pages for have a Scorecard sectipn. It appears that something akin to a precedent has been set. If we are to establish consensus that we should only include championship-level yardages, I would prefer a full discussion on the main talk page.

Proposed deletion of 2022 Legends League Cricket

The article 2022 Legends League Cricket has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:
Non notable event, and we had consensus to delete the parent tournament article
While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, pages may be deleted for any of several reasons.
You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.
Please consider improving the page to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion.

advice on sandbox
Hi User: Wjemather,
First off, this is the same person as Oogglywoogly. I recently changed my username to Chief disambiguator.
Secondly, and most importantly, I would like some advice on sandbox. I noticed you use it a lot and figured you could help me out. I recently started a sandbox page under the title "User:Chief disambiguator/sandbox." During research for some golfers profiles, I recently added citations to the page but I'm not sure how to preserve the information. This is crucial because, for two golfers recently, I collected loads of information but my computer acted up and I lost everything. Originally, I was thinking about clicking "Publish Page" in an effort to preserve the information in the sandbox but I didn't because I thought it might also publish the page prematurely. Any advice would be helpful.
Thanks,

Book: History of the PGA Tour
I am thinking about purchasing this book. I have seen a citation for this book floating round WP: Golf. For example, see citation #9 under the page of Jimmy Demaret and citation #20 on the page of Gene Sarazen. Specifically, I was thinking about using the book to create seasonal calendars for the early tour era.
However, on the Amazon page for the book there are only two reviews and one of them is negative. I know they're only customer reviews but it's all I have to go off of. Do you know anything about the quality of this book?
Thanks,
Chief disambiguator (talk) 21:24, 27 November 2024 (UTC)
- Sorry, I don't know much about it. However, "produced with the full cooperation and support of the PGA Tour" would lead me to believe it's not an entirely independent source, so should be used with caution – the PGAoA and PGA Tour have a long history of revisionism. wjematherplease leave a message... 09:39, 18 December 2024 (UTC)
- Thanks for the response. If I ever use the book I'll probably consult with you first.

Gene Sarazen's amount of PGA Tour wins
On Gene Sarazen's Wiki site, we most recently had it at 38 wins. According to your sandbox it is at 38 wins too. However, according to his PGA Tour site it is now at 37 wins. Apparently his win at the 1930 Concord Country Club Open no longer counts. Looks like this is at least the fourth time since he retired that his official wins total has changed (and third time since he died!).
Regards,
Chief disambiguator (talk) 07:02, 30 December 2024 (UTC)
- The PGA Tour bio page still gives a total of 38 wins at the top but only lists 37 in the details – probably just an omission as I'm sure any intentional reclassification would have been covered somewhere, and I don't know of any such work recently. It's unfortunate that the tour insists on rewriting history and is often unreliable for its own information. wjematherplease leave a message... 10:37, 30 December 2024 (UTC)
- Thank you for the response. I guess we should just keep Sarazen's page the way it was before.
- Meanwhile, I noticed some more discrepancies. On the Wiki page of Roberto de Vicenzo it notes he won seven PGA Tour events however on his PGA Tour page his 1951 wins are not included. (They are listed in the "Additional Wins" section.) In additon, on the Wiki page of Ed Furgol we list six PGA Tour wins but on his PGA Tour.com page his 1947 win at Pebble Beach isn't included at all. Are these just more examples of them making more mistakes with their record-keeping?

more minitour stuff
I recently created a page for Bruce Douglass. He played some minitours in the late 1970s and 1980s and I thought some of the research I dug up might be useful for you. In 1970s, he played the National Golfers of America circuit in the southwest. He finished second place in one of the events. In addition, in 1980 he played something called the Longhorn Tour.
Later on in his career, he played the International Players Association circuit in Mexico. He won one of the events.

Confusion
The grid for the third round of the golf match had to be loaded, and it takes a while to make. Why would someone remove it? The scores cannot be entered without the grid. Johnsmith2116 (talk) 09:11, 19 July 2025 (UTC)
- It absolutely doesn't need doing before the round is complete, and serves zero purpose and an empty table. It is precisely the sort of edit that brought about your topic ban; not using hidden text doesn't alter the nature of the edit. It is very clearly a preparation edit of the sort covered by your topic ban – please do not push it's boundaries as the sanction will undoubtedly involve blocks. wjematherplease leave a message... 17:18, 19 July 2025 (UTC)

The Forbes Open page is up and approved. I have a few questions though:
- It looks like a women's event was played concurrently some years. For example in 1971 and 1973. Do you think this information should be included in the prose and within the Winners table?
- What exactly was the name of this event? It is referred to by a number of variations (e.g. Forbes Classic, Forbes Open); in the early years it is usually preceded by the word "Amoco."
- In your sandbox, you note that Barry Coxon won the 1970 event. Do you have a citation for it? Nothing came up in my research.
- Was it ever an official event on the PGA Tour of Australia? On the page of Terry Gale his 1977 win is categorized as an official event on his wins' table.
Regards,
Chief disambiguator (talk) 04:31, 13 December 2025 (UTC)Chief disambiguator
- If the women's event wasn't widely reported on, it's probably not significant enough to include anything more than acknowledgement of its existence. Presumably, Amoco was the sponsor; and it was titled Classic/Open depending on the entry format. Judging by my notes, the 1970 event is probably in McCormack's WoPG 1971 (I have a copy). Official tour records have a tendency to be rewritten, so it's difficult to know whether tournaments were part of the OoM (or counted as official wins) or not. wjematherplease leave a message... 09:48, 15 December 2025 (UTC)
- Thank you for your response and recent edits. I decided to include some information on the women's (associate's) tournament in the prose but it did not seem noteworthy enough for the table. Also, if you have come across any information at all about the Australian Tour's official Order of Merit during this era please let me know (e.g. from the McCormack source). I still have virtually nothing.
