Article To Be Used On/Reason For Upload: Road signs in Norway. Most of the road signs were uploaded by Pjacklam a while ago, but as I recently expanded the English article a few signs seemed to be missing. It turns out that these EPS files do not convert well to SVG, so Pjacklam probably skipped them. I converted the available BMP files to PNG for compression purposes.

Only the file “Norwegian-road-sign-792.31.png” was created entirely by me, as no decent digital image of that sign seems to exist. Its proportions may be slightly off as it was a speedy job, but it represents the original sign well. It's not bad, but I thought it should be mentioned to avoid people reusing it as a 100% accurate representation.

Comment: I'm willing to do this job now, but I have several questions:

• The “Norwegian-road-sign-792.31.png”-file: is there any evidence of its existent?
• Why is there no Norwegian Wikipedia article about it? Or does one exist and isn't wikilinked? If so, aren't there already the others uploaded?
• Can you give me the "missing" eps-file(in one archive) and I will try (again) to convert them instead of uploading PNGs.

Comment: Answers.

• Evidence of 792.31 can be found in Norwegian law here (scroll up one line).
• Norwegian Wikipedia is missing many articles compared to English Wikipedia, and I personally prefer using English Wikipedia. Regardless, Norwegian Wikipedia does use some of the signs, e.g. “Fareskilt” (Nynorsk) or “Trafikkskilt” (Bokmål). These are equivalent to “Warning Signs” and “Road Signs” respectively; not “Road Signs in Norway” even though they're specifically referring to signs in Norway.
• Some of the signs do not have EPS-files. These are: “Norwegian-road-sign-376_1.png”, “Norwegian-road-sign-715a.png”, “Norwegian-road-sign-715b.png”, “Norwegian-road-sign-727a.png”, “Norwegian-road-sign-727b.png”, “Norwegian-road-sign-729_0.png”, “Norwegian-road-sign-792.31.png” (which I had to remake) and “Norwegian-road-sign-824_0.png”.

Posted these in the article. I noticed that even though I linked the “b”-signs as “alternatives” in text rather than making them thumbnails, they don't show up as “in use” by the article. Is this a bug that occurs with links within the <gallery> tag? They're basically linked the same way as you did above, but nested within a gallery tag. They're linked as they are supposed to be. The point is that on the image page (click one of the “b”-signs), it doesn't show that they're in use on the article (look under “File links”), which might get them deleted. 158.37.73.18 (talk) 17:33, 9 July 2011 (UTC)
