Wikipedia:General sanctions/Assyrian, Chaldean, Aramean and Syriac topics
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
| This page is a log for a community-designated contentious topic regime. It is used to record notifications issued and sanctions imposed under that regime, as specified below. Changes to this page must adhere to the community-designated contentious topic procedure and community consensus. |
Community discussion
A community discussion at the village pump (proposals) has placed all pages with content related to Assyrian, Chaldean, Aramean, and Syriac identity, culture, and politics, broadly construed, under a community-authorized general sanctions regime, effective 19:30, 24 May 2025. The use of "and" here should be understood inclusively, meaning sanctions may apply to any, multiple or all of these ethnicities and listed topics.
Contentious topic (2025)
A November 2025 RfC converted the prior community-imposed discretionary sanctions into a community-designated contentious topic, effective 3 November 2025.

Templates
Pages covered by the contentious topic designation can be tagged with {{Gs/talk notice|topic=acas}}. To alert editors of a community-authorized contentious topic designation, use {{subst:Gs/alert|acas}}. To inform editors of a community sanction, use {{subst:Community sanction|sanction=|rationale=|topic=acas}} and if blocks are issued, {{subst:Uw-csblock}}. All individual sanctions and page restrictions must be logged below.
Enforcement
In addition to community venues (such as WP:AN or WP:ANI as appropriate), enforcement requests and appeals arising from these remedies may be submitted to the arbitration enforcement noticeboard (WP:AE).[c]
Log of administrative actions
Log any block, ban or extension under any remedy here, including any appeals or modifications. Minimum information includes name of administrator, date and time, what was done and the basis for doing it. Place {{subst:Gs/sanction|topic=acas}} on a user's talk page when imposing sanctions. For blocks, use {{subst:Uw-csblock}}.
