Essay on editing Wikipedia
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Vanispamcruftisement (/ˌvænɪˌspæmkrəfˈtaɪzmənt/; sometimes abbreviated as vanispamcruft or VSCA) is a portmanteau neologism comprising several editorial faults which some Wikipedians see as cardinal sins: vanity, spam, cruft, and advertisement. The term was coined by the user Freakofnurture to describe an article nominated for deletion which exhibited all the above properties, being an article apparently created by the owner of a small company about that company, name-checking the owner of the firm with a brief résumé of his skills, and in respect of a company whose products appeared on the face of it to be of strictly limited appeal outside the world of geekdom.[1]

These faults all exhibit poor neutrality and any one of them inherently violates Wikipedia's policy on bias.
