Nominating this for deletion on behalf of User:Readwritehistory. The original talk page message gave this reason: This biography is non-notable and a lot of the content lists the subject's non-profit as the citation. Thebiguglyalien (talk) 00:18, 17 March 2026 (UTC)

  • Do what you will with it lol but he definitely meets multiple of the guidelines you linked including 1. He has a been recognized or mentioned in a number of reliable, non-trivial articles from Billboard, XXL, etc. 5. He has released music on same label as Chris Webby 7. One of most prominent representatives of Connecticut rappers. 12. Performed on Sway in the Morning. Splashmoney15 (talk) 01:34, 16 March 2026 (UTC)
I added some more citations that should further prove notability Splashmoney15 (talk) 02:47, 16 March 2026 (UTC)
  • Keep. Per WP:HEY and enough independent coverage (CT Mirror, XXL, Complex, HotNewHipHop, Billboard, Sway). WidgetKid Converse 04:32, 16 March 2026 (UTC)
Tpdwkouaa, do you still think this should be deleted? WidgetKid Converse 00:32, 18 March 2026 (UTC)

Not seeing any evidence that this person passes the WP:GNG. Merely being a member of an American soccer league team is no longer enough for notability per updated WP:NSPORT guidelines. Hemiauchenia (talk) 00:03, 16 March 2026 (UTC)

While the guidelines may suggest otherwise, some people enjoy referencing more obscure and random sports figures that they have come across in the past. Kingslay725 (talk) 00:27, 16 March 2026 (UTC) Kingslay725 (talk contribs) has made few or no other edits outside this topic.
  • Keep: As it stands it's an obvious fail of the new criteria, but WP:SIGCOV exists in the New England Soccer Journal , (VPN to US) and the Connecticut Post as well as a wealth of mentions in match reports and articles in non-independent sources (websites of football clubs and leagues). It's a narrow pass of WP:GNG, but I think it's enough.Boynamedsue (talk) 07:57, 16 March 2026 (UTC)

  • Delete - no evidence of notability. 2 sources above don't even work, and based on URL, I suspect at least one is ROUTINE. If sources are found which show significant coverage please ping me. GiantSnowman 19:28, 16 March 2026 (UTC)
  • Delete WP:ROUTINE do not make this footballer exceptional. Still fails WP:BASICSPORT lacking in depth WP:SIGCOV. Iljhgtn (they/them · talk) 01:27, 18 March 2026 (UTC)

Page on a freshly promoted associate professor at Yale created by an assistant professor also at Yale. His h-factor is 47 which is OK, total citations 6.8K which is slightly low, but he had a significant increase in citations in 2025. Awards are all junior. To me he is right on the border for a pass of WP:NPROF. Because of the COI issue I am sending this to AfD to get more opinions rather than leaving it sitting as unreviewed. Note: the page creator is partially blocked so I don't see draftification as a viable WP:ATD. Ldm1954 (talk) 14:38, 8 March 2026 (UTC)

  • Delete: Still only an associate professor at Yale, feel like this person is almost notable, but not yet. 6800 citations is nothing to sneeze at, but I don't see a pass at PROF. Perhaps in a few years, just not now. Oaktree b (talk) 21:20, 8 March 2026 (UTC)
  • Weak KeepWeak Delete for now. Off to a good start but it remains to be seen if achievement is maintained. Decent cites with fairly small author lists in a fashionable field. The off-putting feature is the discredited creator of the BLP, but this is hardly the subject's fault. Xxanthippe (talk) 21:55, 8 March 2026 (UTC).
  • Delete I think the citation count is too low for NPROF. David Poland, another associate professor from Yale, was recently deleted and he has 10,700 citations and an h-index of 42 per Google Scholar. Cheng has four papers with more than 200 citations; among them he has 10 coauthors, 8 of whom have Google Scholar profiles, and all have an h-index of at least 40 and at least 6,000 citations. The two with the highest citation counts are 157 (130,000) and 118 (63,000). So, the field is a relatively high-citation one. Kelob2678 (talk) 17:21, 15 March 2026 (UTC)

The only sources I can find are obituaries; the subject doesn’t seem to be notable. There are many unsourced statements. Awesomecat ( / ) 02:06, 27 February 2026 (UTC)

  • Delete Don't believe he meets WP:GNG, WP:ANYBIO, or WP:NBOXING. The most significant thing I could find in his boxing career was being invited to the 1952 U.S. Olympic trials, where he lost his first (and only) fight. I looked at the sources mentioned above and found the first was a local paper article about him winning a Ninth Naval District boxing title, the second was about him getting a college degree, the third was about an upcoming fight, and the fourth was about him competing for a spot at the Olympic Trials. I don't believe any of those things is sufficient to show WP notability. Papaursa (talk) 15:51, 11 March 2026 (UTC)

Joe Santone

Joe Santone (edit | talk | history | protect | delete | links | watch | logs | views) – (View AfD | edits since nomination)
(Find sources: Google (books · news · scholar · free images · WP refs· FENS · JSTOR · TWL)

Subject fails to meet the WP:GNG because of a lack of WP:SIGCOV from reliable, independent sources. All I could find was his obituary at [], which doesn't even mention his brief NFL career and just based on content, can't be considered significant. The only references actually in the article are databases. A redirect to 1926 Hartford Blues season#Roster may be a suitable WP:ATD. Let'srun (talk) 17:41, 24 February 2026 (UTC)

I also understand that there is a book covering some early Blues players, called First and Ten: Pro Football Players Born in Italy, but I am unsure if Santone is covered there. Even then, I'd be a bit hesitant on keeping this as it appears that it is self-published. Let'srun (talk) 17:46, 24 February 2026 (UTC)
  • Keep (struck for the moment), the First and Ten book has a six-page section on Santone, and was written by the historian / journalist Fausto Batella, one of the top experts of Italian football (1 2 3). Enough for WP:SPORTCRIT. There's enough to write a WP:NBASIC-compliant article here. BeanieFan11 (talk) 18:05, 24 February 2026 (UTC)
Is the book self-published, though? If it isn't, I'll be willing to withdraw this. Let'srun (talk) 18:13, 24 February 2026 (UTC)
Batella published the book, but he's one of the top-regarded experts on the subject of Italian football. Self-published sources can be considered reliable if authored by experts. BeanieFan11 (talk) 18:17, 24 February 2026 (UTC)
I'm not convinced he is an expert more so that he is a self-described expert on this (niche) topic. I'll let others in this discussion chose for themselves if that is the case. Let'srun (talk) 18:20, 24 February 2026 (UTC)
    • Can you see what the book says about him? There was an Al Santone recorded with the Hartford Blues in 1926. ~WikiOriginal-9~ (talk) 19:09, 24 February 2026 (UTC)
      • It's viewable here. To be fair there's a lot of content in his section that isn't directly on him, but IMO there's still enough to be SIGCOV. Though that's interesting that the newspapers say it was someone named Al who was playing for the Blues that year. I'll have to look further when I get the chance. BeanieFan11 (talk) 01:52, 25 February 2026 (UTC)
  • Redirect to 1926 Hartford Blues season. I tried, but my searches turned up no WP:SIGCOV -- the closest thing is the obituary (probably a paid death notice given details about visitation, requiem mass, and burial) which makes no mention of his football "career". My hopes were raised by the book linked by Beanie -- a whole chapter about Santone! But then I read the chapter in full, and it is not about Santone. It is filled with generic facts about the history of Italian immigration and football in Hartford. The only information about Santone are the same bare facts set forth in database entries: (i) he played two games for Hartford, and (ii) dates and places of birth and death. A redirect preserves the article history so that it can be unearthed if and when true significant coverage is found. Cbl62 (talk) 15:39, 28 February 2026 (UTC)
