I have recently created Template:S&P 500 companies based on the presence of other similar templates such as Template:S&P 400 companies, Template:FTSE 250 Index constituents, Template:KOSPI 200 and Template:Nikkei 225, on my talk page, I was challenged regarding the application of WP:NAVBOX to it. I don't think that it offends NAVBOX more than some of the other larger templates at Category:Stock market index templates and its subcats. Hello, WP F&I. I was the challenger referenced above. I think that many of these templates, if nominated at WP:TFD, it would be deleted per the guidelines at WP:NAVBOX, specifically items 1, 3, and 5. (Quoting: 1. All articles within a template relate to a single, coherent subject; 3. The articles should refer to each other, to a reasonable extent; 5. If not for the navigation template, an editor would be inclined to link many of these articles in the See also sections of the articles.) – Jonesey95 (talk) 01:39, 18 March 2026 (UTC)

I think they serve the encyclopedia and have thus survived your strict interpretation. I suppose a TFD objection would carry weight, but I think these types of templates serve are valuable.
