Cleanup template for math

I would like to create some cleanup templates for mathematical equations to make it easier to point out when an equation is wrong or missing information. Would it be reasonable to make an inline template like Template:Clarification needed but that says instead undefined variables or something similar? I could do it but I am not an expert on template making (please ping me if you answer).--ReyHahn (talk) 11:58, 6 March 2021 (UTC)

If you could list down several examples of the articles which needs those formula corrections, then please go ahead to create that template. But can you try to list down some of the articles which may need that templates? Chongkian (talk) 14:58, 19 July 2023 (UTC)
I just noticed this response. I will post examples as soon as I find some. The problem is that I have cleaned out, those articles that had problems before. It is still a recurring problem.--ReyHahn (talk) 16:37, 22 September 2025 (UTC)

inline templates should visually indicate to which part of the text they apply to

I would like to make a suggestion: Inline templates should specify the text portion to which it applies. Visually, the problematic text in the article should have a dotted underline so that the reader knows to which part of the sentence the inline template applies to.
For example: unproblematic text problematic unsourced text[citation needed]
This means that the first part doesn't need a citation but the second (dotted underlined) part does. --boarders paradise (talk) 00:38, 18 April 2025 (UTC)

Some templates have a "span" version, but not most. The citation needed template has a span version, citation needed span, which highlights the relevant text.[citation needed] However, it's far from universal and I think your version looks nicer. AnandaBliss (talk) 20:10, 13 June 2025 (UTC)

Is there an inline version of {{Lead extra info}}?

Bot cleanup request

I ran into this accidental misuse of the first parameter to {{dubious}} today. I think this should be one of those things that's checked by a bot— where should I ask? Marnanel (talk) 13:08, 7 November 2025 (UTC)

Template:Dubious could potentially detect this problem and report it as an error with a tracking category. Consensus for this needs to be reached at Template talk:Dubious.
If this problem is widespread enough and you want some automatic way of this being fixed, you can try asking at Wikipedia:Bot requests or WP:AWBREQ. —andrybak (talk) 16:07, 7 November 2025 (UTC)
