Proposed new TFA coordinator

Jacob Gens
Subject was born April 1st, meaning if you run it on the birthday someone might think it's an April Fools day joke. Biography articles with birthdays that by chance happen to land on major holidays may be cursed to never run. Harizotoh9 (talk) 13:50, 4 February 2026 (UTC)

- @Harizotoh9: Biography articles do not have to run on the subject's birthday, and they can be suggested for a non-specific date or another date of significance. Since the number of articles at WP:FANMP decreases every year, there's a good chance that the article will eventually run even if it isn't suggested at WP:TFAR. Talyllyn Railway re-run
I'd like to nominate Talyllyn Railway for TFA for 14 May 2026 (the 75th anniversary of the first train operated as a preserved railway) when the May nominations open. Since this is a re-run (previously appeared as TFA on 13 July 2009) I'm raising it for discussion here first. - Is there any reason why it needs more discussion than any other rerun? Has the article been maintained and generally meets present-day FA standards? We have had some questions raised recently about the suitability of older FAs. Wehwalt (talk) 17:42, 23 February 2026 (UTC)
- I'm just complying with the instruction on this project page: "If you have an exceptional request that deviates from these instructions (for example, an article making a second appearance as TFA, or a "double-header"), please discuss the matter with the TFA coordinators beforehand." The article has been kept up to date, and underwent an FA sweep in 2022, after which I added some missing citations. See Talk:Talyllyn_Railway#FA_sweeps—notes. — Voice of Clam (talk) 19:26, 23 February 2026 (UTC)
- Yeah, that is on us, I think, perhaps we need to rephrase that since second appearances are now common. You can nominate it at TFA/R when it is eligible, and I believe that April will be scheduled in the next few days. Wehwalt (talk) 19:34, 23 February 2026 (UTC)
