Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Disambiguation

Hey folks. Is it appropriate to have a disambiguation page entry for a word, if the word appears as an entry in a Wikipedia article that's a glossary or a list of terms? I was thinking that it's not, but perhaps I'm mistaken. The current version of the FOID page has such an entry. For the benefit of others who want to give their input, I am involved in this: however in my view, you've been making the right call for 18 years, a disambiguation page is not a search index and nor is Wikipedia a dictionary (which is a widely-accepted policy; go to wiktionary if you want that). The term simply isn't notable nor encyclopedic enough for a directly linked article, and as such I still, 18 years later, echo your talkpage post (that at the time was coincidentally also about a different slang term) that a "new, separate article with a different title" should be created which "should cite reliable references" if it were to be an entry. Rarely should navigable links in disambiguation pages target anything other than an actual page, and most definitely not piping to a section that targets an anchor which actually contains the entry in a non-anchor description list item (i.e, preceding ; markup) making it completely useless so as to be inaccessible for user navigation. In any case, however, I've since subtracted the entries in the page which were being linked to as there was no evidence for it to belong there (I still am of the belief that the Glossary of 2020s slang page shouldn't exist as it is the most blatant violation of the WP:NOTDICT policy, but I digress). Also @ALittleClass, your point about page views is completely irrelevant and you should first see what the notice on WP:PAGEVIEWS states: "It is not a measure of notability".
