IBA Pro Bouts
Sorry in advance if this has been discussed previously, but I'm struggling with what to do about IBA "Pro" bouts. Boxrec considers them separately to normal professional bouts for the most part, but how to handle them on Wikipedia should probably be addressed. I've seen some pages counting them separately like boxrec, adding them to pro records normally, or just ignoring them outright. I have no real opinion on this, just think we should get out ahead of it and say definitively how to handle them. ZenZekey (talk) 00:33, 9 July 2025 (UTC)
- how about making a separate record only for the (IBA) like this "Albert Pagara" FilBox101 (talk) 00:35, 11 September 2025 (UTC)
Dispute at Naoya Inoue
Hello everyone, there is currently a dispute between @Rocco30 and myself at Talk:Naoya Inoue regarding a couple of historical boxing records Inoue has supposedly broken. I encourage you all to participate and would like to hear your thoughts on this matter, thanks. GOAT Bones231012 (talk) 06:25, 22 September 2025 (UTC)
MF Boxing
Im holding discusions about MF boxing at Talk:KSI. The matches are officially exhibition matches but are listed as profesional matches. There a lot of sockpuppets involved and only 1 other person seems to be a real account working on the page. If you guys could, i would like to hear your opinion.
I have often seen people online refer to the MF Boxers as real boxers and use their records on wikipedia as prove of their professional record. Of course i believe this is wrong and it isnt reconized as such by any major record holder or boxing organization. I feel like it discredits the people who go trough the extra effort to get their fights to be pro, even guys like Jake Paul who actually went trough the difficulty of getting all his fights to be professional.
Thank you for reading. Panini03 (talk) 08:28, 8 October 2025 (UTC)
Assessment Needed
Floyd Mayweather Jr. vs. Sharmba Mitchell and Roy Jones Jr. vs. Clinton Woods articles need quality class assessment. Both articles look pretty good to me, but I'm not familiar with wikipedia's boxing articles so someone from boxing project should do quality assessment. I posted importance assessment for WikiProject Oregon, where fights took place.--Orygun (talk) 00:38, 22 November 2025 (UTC)
Discussion about WikiProject banner templates
For WikiProjects that participate in rating articles, the banners for talk pages usually say something like:
- "This article has been rated as Low-importance on the importance scale."
There is a proposal to change the default wording on the banners to say "priority" instead of "importance". This could affect the template for your group. Please join the discussion at Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Council#Proposal to update wording on WikiProject banners.
