Help with potentially geolocked website

Various editions of Tacuinum Sanitatis were published through the Medieval period. We have scans from one: File:6-alimenti, pasta,Taccuino Sanitatis, Casanatense 4182..jpg and it gives a date of the 14th century, but in an article (pasta) the date is given to 15th century. The correct date can be confirmed by visiting the Biblioteca Casanatense website (https://casanatense.cultura.gov.it/) and checking the data for item 4182, but I suspect it is geolocked and cannot be accessed from my location. Can someone confirm which date is correct? Rollinginhisgrave (talk | edits) 04:47, 28 December 2025 (UTC)

@Rollinginhisgrave I tried to access the link, I did find the manuscript, but I couldn't find any hint about the date... --Friniate 15:49, 28 December 2025 (UTC)
Thankyou Friniate, shame about the date but helpful nonetheless. Rollinginhisgrave (talk | edits) 08:38, 29 December 2025 (UTC)

Use of non‑official English titles for Italian films

Several Italian film articles currently use English titles that are not official and appear to come from literal translations found in Brunetta’s The History of Italian Cinema. These translations are not used in international distribution, film archives, or major databases, and in many cases they are misleading or incorrect.

This issue affects not only Totò’s filmography but Italian films in general. Examples include:

  • Totò al giro d'Italia-> Toto Tours Italy (misinterprets "Giro d'Italia", the cycling race; the movie is about Totò taking part to the race, not touring the country);
  • Fifa e arena -> Fear and Sand (in this context "arena" means "arena", not "sand");
  • Cadavere per signora -> Corpse for the Lady (overly literal and not an attested English title).

These English titles are not verifiable as official and do not reflect actual usage in English‑language markets or reference sources.

Proposal:

In accordance with Wikipedia’s naming conventions, when a film has no established English title, the article should use the original Italian title, with a literal translation and explanation provided in the lead. This approach avoids introducing non‑existent titles and maintains accuracy and verifiability.

I therefore propose moving the affected articles to their Italian titles unless a verifiable, officially used English title can be identified. ~2026-72249-9 (talk) 16:12, 2 February 2026 (UTC)

English titles not being the literal translations of the Italian ones is irrelevant. I just checked the first one and looks widely used. Cavarrone 18:54, 2 February 2026 (UTC)

Translation help needed for bilingual welcome template

 Courtesy link: Template:Welcome-foreign/Italian

Hello. Can you help verify a brief, English-to-Italian translation in a welcome template?

Template:Welcome-foreign is a bilingual welcome template used to welcome new users who have written content in some other language besides English. The template welcomes them first in English, then in their own language, as long as it is one of the three dozen languages it can handle. New languages are easily added. Someone added support for Italian, creating Template:Welcome-foreign/Italian from the original at Template:Welcome-foreign/English. It looks okay, but not native. I'd appreciate it if a native Italian speaker could clean it up or improve the translation. Feel free to edit it directly, or paste a better translation below, if you prefer not to edit a template. Thanks! Mathglot (talk) 06:29, 9 February 2026 (UTC)

Edit COI request pending - Gianfranco Becchina article, BLP concerns

A COI edit request is pending at Talk:Gianfranco Becchina that may be of interest to this WikiProject. The request concerns a significant 2026 Italian court ruling that is entirely absent from the article, a factual misstatement about a living person, and an incorrect source citation. All changes are supported by independent published Italian and international sources. Input from project members would be appreciated. ~~~~ WikiEditor IT Arts (talk) 17:53, 13 March 2026 (UTC)
