Michelin Saudi Arabia

It looks like the original page of List of Michelin-starred restaurants in Saudi Arabia has been renamed Michelin Guide for Saudi Arabia. Since there are no starred restaurants, and there's essentially no content, I would propose to delete. Expandinglight5 (talk) 18:23, 19 December 2025 (UTC)

Proposals for deletion belong to WP:AFD, not WikiProjects. Tbhotch (CC BY-SA 4.0) 02:52, 20 December 2025 (UTC)
It was a courtesy knowing it was created by members of this group. I'll tag accordingly. Expandinglight5 (talk) 05:13, 20 December 2025 (UTC)
I was away on holiday travel so I'm just seeing this now, but looks like the discussion's closed on the page and it was determined to keep it. I also got a notification that the page has now been reviewed and accepted by a patroller. We can look to beef up the page with more information and sources if any further concerns arise. Dtmich24 (talk) 01:42, 15 January 2026 (UTC)
Since this entry is not a list of restaurants, I have removed the list-related categories. ---Another Believer (Talk) 01:47, 15 January 2026 (UTC)

Possible rating template for infobox

Does anyone recall where we left off re: the possible creation of a Michelin star-specific template for the Ratings field in infoboxes? I think ideally users visiting an article about a Michelin-starred restaurant would be able to see clearly in the infobox how many stars have been won and when. In some cases, this might look very simple, such as " (2012)". Other times it involve multiple rows, such as:

  • (2012–2015; 2018)
  • (2016–2017)
  • (2013–2014; 2019–2020)

This is an arbitrary example, but I think the point I'm trying to make is someone can easily tell exactly how many stars have been awarded and when. I think it is crucial we include dates, which sometimes means ranges using an en dash or a semicolon for timeline breaks. Ideally, this would be sourced, too, either via inline citations in the infobox or within the article body. I'd like for us to revisit this discussion and see if we can come up with a helpful template that could be used to make the infoboxes for articles about Michelin-starred restaurants more consistent.

Thoughts? Concerns? Ideas? Thanks! ---Another Believer (Talk) 15:43, 10 January 2026 (UTC)

Did the previous conversation get archived? My only concern is with many changes over the years for certain restaurants, the infobox could become bloated due to rating information. Expandinglight5 (talk) 18:27, 10 January 2026 (UTC)
I'm confident we could come up with a way of providing an overview of star history without making the infobox bloated. The issue is, when someone sees one or more stars in the infobox currently, there's no way of knowing if that's current or outdated, if the restaurant received a different number of stars historically, etc. I think a format similar to the one I've proposed above is much more helpful to readers. ---Another Believer (Talk) 20:11, 14 January 2026 (UTC)
I think it would be helpful to show the full rating history like you listed. Would making it a collapsible section in the infobox (or show the current rating but collapse previous ratings) help ensure it doesn't look too bloated? Dtmich24 (talk) 01:36, 15 January 2026 (UTC)
Totally open to collapsing. I've expanded the arbitrary example above to have three rows, and I don't see this as too large or too much info to include in an infobox. ---Another Believer (Talk) 01:50, 15 January 2026 (UTC)
Looks good to me. Anything we can do about the size of the stars to make them uniform? Not sure if it's display settings on my end but the more stars there are, the smaller they appear. Or presuming we can use the coding we have for stars (ie. "1 Michelin star / 2 Michelin stars / 3 Michelin stars") instead of using a svg file as you have it. Dtmich24 (talk) 22:13, 15 January 2026 (UTC)
The box above is just for concept / discussion purposes. I am hoping we can create a template that can be standardized as a "sub-template" of Template:Infobox restaurant, sort of like how Template:Infobox_album#Template:Extra_chronology is used at Template:Infobox album. I agree with you, uniform star size is preferred. In my example, I was just trying to show what a more complicated star history might look like, since we discussing this above.
Another thought: If we prefer to keep this sort of info in the article body, instead of the infobox, we could consider something more like Template:Music ratings. I'm really open to what others think is best, and I am hoping others can help develop the template. Thanks, both, for weighing in, I am curious to see where this discussion leads. ---Another Believer (Talk) 22:27, 15 January 2026 (UTC)
That could work too. Admittedly I don't have a strong preference on how it gets displayed, so whatever ends up working is fine with me. Dtmich24 (talk) 20:49, 1 February 2026 (UTC)

Michelin Guide section on 'Guides'

A recent edit on the Michelin Guide page just spurred this thought - the 'Guides' section is a bit of a mess right now with two tables, one broken down by country and the other by region, with some outdated information and some overlap between the two tables. I think the intent of the regions table was to list those which have distinct guides (ex. Kyoto/Osaka, Toronto, Florida), but it looks like some have gone and added regions which do not have standalone guides (ex. each region in Turkey and Vietnam is broken down). I was thinking for ease of updating that we keep the breakdowns by country only? Those are easily searchable and could be updated with each list published which we're tracking on the task force page. Or make it more clear that the Regions and cites section is just for those with standalone guides at a level lower than country? Thoughts? Dtmich24 (talk) 20:59, 1 February 2026 (UTC)

Some countries like the US and Canada do not have nationwide guides. Seems to make sense that Regions/Cities are for those that have standalone guides and avoid duplication of Rome and Italy. Expandinglight5 (talk) 23:24, 9 February 2026 (UTC)
Perfect, I'm going to go in and remove the ones in the region/city list that are not standalone guides. Dtmich24 (talk) 15:51, 10 February 2026 (UTC)
What are your thoughts on Atlanta/American South? Leave Atlanta as a region and add Tennessee and other regions included in the list to the regions section? Presumably same treatment when American Southwest debuts later this year?
