Antecedentes
Todas las canciones estuvieron disponibles para escuchar durante el estreno de Radio Disney Planet, celebrado tres días antes del lanzamiento de la banda sonora, en RadioDisney.com, excepto las pistas adicionales de la Edición Deluxe y las pistas exclusivas de Target (con la excepción de The Star I R, que se emitió al aire ese día).[1] Vendió 210.000 copias en EE. UU. en 2012 y fue la banda sonora de televisión más vendida del año.[2]
Sencillos
El primer sencillo fue Up, Up, and Away por Blush el cual fue lanzado el 14 de febrero de 2012. El video musical tenía la letra y videoclips de un episodio de Shake It Up con Blush cantando la música. El segundo sencillo fue Something to Dance For interpretada por Zendaya y el video incluye la versión de mash-up de la banda sonora con la canción de Bella Thorne TTYLXOX, que fue el tercer sencillo. Las dos canciones fueron lanzadas el 6 de marzo de 2012. Ambas, Something to Dance For y TTYLXOX, también se incluyeron en dos episodios diferentes de Shake It Up "Something to Dance For" se presentó en "Apply It Up", y TTYLXOX, en "Judge It Up".
