Under My Skin est le premier album à débuter à la première position au classement américain du Billboard 200[2]. Under My Skin s'écoule à 3 144 000 d'exemplaires vendus aux États-Unis[3]. Il est par la suite certifié disque double platine par la Recording Industry Association of America en novembre 2004 puis triple platine en .
L'album se classe également numéro 1 au Royaume-Uni[4], en Allemagne[5], en Autriche[6], en Australie[7], au Japon[8] et au Canada[9]. En France, l'album se classe à la 4e position[10]. L'album s'est écoulé à plus de 10 millions d'exemplaires à travers le monde[11].
