About

Wikiwand is a modern interface that optimizes the content available on Wikipedia for a quicker and significantly improved reading experience.

We use AI to help you browse Wikipedia articles better and faster, and to provide more nuanced and balanced information. Tools like timelines, top questions, and more help you explore Wikipedia articles in a more engaging way, and our deep fact-checking tool helps you verify the accuracy of the information you find by balancing articles from different language versions and in front of well-credited web search results.

Supporting Wikipedia

Wikiwand is a Leading Donor of the Wikimedia Foundation, the organization that powers Wikipedia. We will continue to support Wikipedia and the free knowledge movement so that human-created content keeps improving and remains better-curated, accessible, and balanced.

Using AI

AI is quickly becoming the most powerful tool for acquiring knowledge. Alongside the incredible benefits it provides, there are also challenges. Wikipedia is a massive source of data for AI models, but it is built on human contributions and is language-specific; biases, gaps in detail, and regional differences are common. Combining the two carefully is a tremendous opportunity for alignment and improvement. This is our motto in using AI: we are just getting started.

How do we make money?

All our content is free to use. But we do have significant R&D and server costs. To cover these costs, we display ads only to unauthenticated organic search visitors who do not use our browser extension. The goal is to minimize disruption for users who enjoy Wikiwand and choose to replace their Wikipedia experience with ours. We offer premium subscription plans with enhanced UI features and powerful AI capabilities. Your support helps us continue to improve Wikiwand and make it a better place for everyone.
