Al-Bayati (Arabic: البياتي, romanized: al-Bayātī) is a surname. It is connected to the Iraqi al-Bayat tribe.
The tribe is named after their traditional region of Tuz District in Saladin Governorate, northern Iraq.[1][2][3][4]
The ancestry and ethnicity of those carrying the al-Bayati name is split between Arabs and Turkmen.[5] Arab sources claim it as an Arab tribe of the Tayy tribal confederacy.[6][7] Turkmen sources however claim the tribe's ancestry is linked to the Oghuz Turkic Bayat tribe with origins in Khorasan.[8][9][10][11][6][12]
