History

The Andir station was originally built as a small railway halt, along with Gadobangkong, Cikudapateuh, Rancakendal, and Haurpugur. The planned opening of these stops was advertised in the newspaper de Preanger-bode on 13 February 1899, by the Western Exploitation Staatsspoorwegen, which announced that the stops would begin operating on 20 February 1899. Due to its small size, from the beginning, the stop only served local trains.[1]

Based on a 1921 map of the Dutch East Indies colonial era, towards to Ciroyom, there is a branch that turns south towards Tapiocafabriek en pakhuizen GwanAn (Tapioca Factory and Warehouse GwanAn). The factory is now located around Andir Street -locals call it Guan An Street-. The branch line turns around (then now) called Gang H. Gojali. It is unknown when the line was active and inactive. There is also no definite information about the factory and the line, but both are listed on maps of the Dutch East Indies colonial era.

A plan published in the 31 January 1939 edition of Spoor en Tramwegen shows that Andir was planned as a station for controlling signalling and switches. To the east of the Andir station, the railway line diverged; a double track line led directly to Bandung station, and a single track line led to Bandung Gudang Station (now closed), the site of which is now Ciroyom Station. The purpose of this plan was to separate passenger and freight trains so that they wouldn't interfere with each other.[2]
