Angela Krauß was born in 1950 in Chemnitz.[1] From 1969 to 1972, she studied advertising economics at the Technical School of Advertising and Design in East Berlin. She then worked in advertising and public relations. From 1976 to 1979, she studied at the Johannes R. Becher Literary Institute in Leipzig, where she has lived as an independent writer since 1981. In 2000, she taught poetry at the University of Paderborn, in 2004 at the Goethe University Frankfurt[2], and in 2016 at the Faculty of Theology at Humboldt University of Berlin. In 2009, she was awarded the 10-week London scholarship from the German Literature Fund,[3] as Writer-in-Residence at Queen Mary University of London.[4]
Angela Krauß is a member of the PEN Center Germany[5] and the Sächsische Akademie der Künste.[2] Since 2006, she has been a full member of the Academy of Sciences and Literature Mainz[6] and, since 2014, of the Academy of Arts, Berlin.
