Bückeberg Group

The Bückeberg Group, formerly known as the Bückeberg Formation,[1] is a stratigraphic group and Lagerstätte[2] in Germany. It preserves fossils dating back to the Berriasian of the Cretaceous period.[3] The Bückeberg Formation has previously been considered to constitute the "German Wealden" in reference to its similarity to the Wealden Group in the United Kingdom.[4] It containsthe Isterberg and Deister Formations. The plesiosaur Brancasaurus,[1] an indeterminate ankylosaur referred to Hylaeosaurus,[5] the turtle Dorsetochelys are known from the formation.
