For the purposes of this category, "West Himalaya" is defined in accordance with the World Geographical Scheme for Recording Plant Distributions. That is, the geographic region is defined as including the following areas:
- Himachal Pradesh
- Jammu and Kashmir (comprising Pakistan-administered territory of Gilgit-Baltistan and the Indian-administered union territories of Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh)
- Uttarakhand (Uttaranchal)
