Phosphate minerals contain the phosphate, PO43−, anion.
In standard mineral classification systems (in both the Dana and Strunz systems) the phosphate class includes the arsenates, vanadates and the polyvanadates. Strunz includes the vanadates(V, VI) in the oxides class.
