Proposed Third District

A proposal for a third district is under consideration. It will consist of Sanguem taluka, Quepem taluka, Dharbandora and Canacona taluka. The district headquarters is expected to be Curchorem in Quepem taluka.[6][7]

The Goa Government had formed a seven member committee headed by the Chief Secretary in November 2023 to assess the need for a third district.[8] Given the increasing population of the state, the committee was entrusted to evaluate whether the creation of a third district would lead to the development and welfare of the residents in the hinterland talukas.
