Eclipse Automation is a Canadian industrial automation company headquartered in Cambridge, Ontario. Founded in 2001, the company designs and manufactures manufacturing systems, robotics, automation control solutions, and integrated tooling for various industries.

HISTORY Eclipse Automation was founded in 2001 in Cambridge, Ontario, by Steve Mai, Todd Ronald, and Richard Bula (City of Cambridge). The company initially operated from a facility on Bishop Street before relocating to Sheldon Drive and later to its current headquarters at 130 Thompson Drive (Martin).

The company expanded internationally through acquisitions, including JR Fabrication in 2007 and Forefront Automation in 2011 (Iain and Manufacturing Today), D&D Automation in 2019 (McLeod, Design Engineering), and Transmoduls Ltd (Hungary) in 2019 (automation.com). In 2016, Eclipse joined the Smart Automation Group, a cooperative network of automation firms sharing practices and intellectual property (NewsWire).

In 2017, Steve Mai acquired full ownership of the company. In 2022, Eclipse Automation was acquired by Accenture (Accenture to Acquire Eclipse Automation to Help Clients Build Factories of the Future). By late 2025, the company returned to private ownership while maintaining ongoing business relationships with Accenture (Miller Thomson).

In July 2025, the company signed a memorandum of understanding with Westinghouse Electric Company to support nuclear new-build projects (Westinghouse Electric Company).

In March 2026, Eclipse Automation made an investment in Mirsee Robotics, a developer of remotely operated humanoid robotic systems.

The company also contributed to industry research on manufacturing practices through a report highlighting the importance of system integration, data accessibility, and cross-functional collaboration in automation implementations (Design Engineering Magazine), in March 2026.

AWARDS AND RECOGNITIONS Eclipse Automation was named one of Canada’s Best Managed Companies in 2014 and retained the designation in subsequent years, achieving Gold Status in 2020 (Cambridge Times; Joseph, Canadian Packaging; Wills).
