Jacob Chance is an Australian professional basketball coach who is the head coach of the Austin Spurs, the NBA G League affiliate of the San Antonio Spurs. He previously coached in Australia’s National Basketball League (Australia) and has also worked with the Australia men’s national basketball team. 
Chance is widely regarded as one of Australia’s top young basketball coaches and has quickly progressed through the professional coaching ranks.

Early Life
Jacob Chance was born in Perth, Western Australia. 
He studied physiotherapy at the University of Notre Dame Australia before moving into basketball coaching.

Coaching Career
Perth Wildcats
Chance began his professional coaching career in 2015 with the Perth Wildcats as a video and development coach. 
He later became an assistant coach and was part of four NBL championship teams (2016, 2017, 2019, 2020) during his time with the club.

Tasmania JackJumpers
In 2021, Chance joined the Tasmania JackJumpers as associate head coach under Scott Roth. 
He helped guide the expansion team to back-to-back postseason appearances, including reaching the 2022 NBL Grand Final series.

Chance later joined Melbourne United as an assistant coach, spending two seasons with the club and helping the team reach the playoffs in both years.

Australian National Team
Chance has also worked with the Australian Boomers, serving as head of video and analytics and as an assistant coach. 
In 2024, he served as interim head coach during the FIBA Asia Cup qualifying window, leading Australia to an undefeated record against Thailand, South Korea, and Indonesia. 
He was also part of the Boomers coaching staff at the 2023 FIBA World Cup and the 2024 Paris Olympics.

In August 2025, Chance was appointed head coach of the Austin Spurs, becoming the 11th head coach in franchise history. 
He replaced Scott King, who was promoted to the NBA staff of the San Antonio Spurs. 
During his first season, Chance quickly made an impact, leading Austin to a 9–1 start and earning NBA G League Coach of the Month honours early in the season.
