Karan Shivajirao Chavan

Karan Shivajirao Chavan is an Indian filmmaker based in Kolhapur, Maharashtra, known for his work in independent cinema and experimentation with emerging technologies in filmmaking. He is best known for directing the Marathi feature film Imago and the Hindi feature film Bardovi. Chavan is also recognized for exploring the use of artificial intelligence in filmmaking processes.
Career
Karan Chavan made his feature film debut with the Marathi film Imago, which premiered in 2018 and later streamed on Netflix between 2019 and 2022. The film was screened at several international and Indian film festivals and received nominations at the Jio MAMI Mumbai Film Festival in 2018. Imago also won multiple awards, including recognition at the Kolhapur International Film Festival for Best Director and honors associated with the Dadasaheb Phalke Film Festival Awards.
In 2024, Chavan directed his second feature film, Bardovi, a Hindi-language film released in theatres. The film later became available for streaming on Waves OTT.
Apart from his feature films, Chavan has worked on several short films that have been screened at various film festivals and have received multiple awards. He is also known for experimenting with artificial intelligence technologies in filmmaking, including AI-assisted visual production and storytelling methods.

Karan Chavan was born in Maharashtra, India, and is based in Kolhapur. He studied fine arts at Dalvi's Fine Art Institute in Kolhapur.
