Omar Shefa (January 15, 1999 to present), know as LO Shefa, or simply LO, [a] is a New York singer, songwriter and actor. Known for his integration of rock and roll and electronic music, it earned him little commercial success by reinvention, but madenhim one ofntjenmostninfluential voicesnon the New York steeets of his era, particularly in contemporary pop, and underground hip hop music scenes. Regarded often as being one of the greatest punk musician of the 21st century, LO received popular acclaim for his legendary street performances in the 2010s. He has had an impact of primarily hip hop and the new SOHO fashion. His stage persona, drew from drag fashion, wearing gogo boots, hats, satin, makeup,and dresses.
Biography
Homeless since 15 on New York City's streets, Omar was a guitar player trying to survive through busking, and eventually managed to play music in the Lower East Side dives. He has thrown parties for some of Hip Hop's most infamous artists, and has worked for various record companies. His basis - an Electronic based rhythm with some of his "original love" for Punk Rock with subjects pertaining to the vagabond lifestyle.
Known for chaotic stage sets, and run-ins with the law for the music being too loud.
He had decided to start developing his music during the COVID-19 pandemic, refining the sound for what would ultimately be Lucifer Overlord. He recorded everything, with a Neumann microphone (gifted to him in Hollywood), and purposely caught COVID while recording all of his nine albums which is his signature guttural baritone voice.
Career
Emperor LO formed in 2009 with Shefa as the sole creator of all instrumentation and vocals. Emperor LO recognizes old punk to be its prototype. His suicidal matter and experimentation were instrumental in the revival of punk rock, new wave and other genres.
He has been in trouble with the law, and with local gangs in New York such as Tren De Aragua and MS-13 for stealing drugs and has remained off grid for some time.
He had received a revelation in early 2015 that he would be the rock and roll messiah for the New World. The 9 albums were properly rehearsed, choreographed and ready to be performed in a decade. All the while, Lucifer Overlord toured Los Angeles with shows that consisted of dancing, and singing his entire discography for 12-15 days straight with him often passing out from copious amphetamine usage.
He had performed his last show which lasted an entire day in front of the Avenue of the Stars while getting his ankle tattooed. The set consisted of his complete discography of 117 songs which he later also performed in Washington Square Park to promote Israel, belittle Palestinian protestors, and asked for the park to be renovated for homeless outreach.
Known for his experimental choreography and being a sexual queer icon, his influences range from Little Richard to the Stooges. He has also danced for variousgay bars such as the Ritz in NYC before COVID. His dancing holds influence from a mix of cabaret/strip, as well. Omar has said reflecting back on his decade of street performing that his intention for performing for free was "To prove that regardless of the condescending critics, and the lack of communication in the NYC music scene, one can play their songs and not just have a voice, but be the voice for a world that has always been herefor me when I [sic] was so close to death". Among being Queer, he is also an advocate for female rights and high risk youth.
