The "Macarena wing" is a device used for formula racing cars with active aerodynamics. Popularly named after the 1993 song and its eponymous dance, it appeared on the Ferrari SF-26 during the 2026 Formula One World Championship.

Background

Active aerodynamics have been present on automobiles since x. They were banned in Formula One from year until the Fédération Internationale de l'Automobile (FIA) opted to allow them for new chassis regulations in 2026.

History

Theory of operation

On the SF-26, the upper wing structure rotated 270° on straights, reducing the drag penalty and thus increasing straight-line speed.
