History
The chain was founded in 2013 in Lexington, Kentucky, by the Hatton family.[2] It has since expanded to multiple states including Kentucky, Indiana and Texas. Rather than build new locations, it has moved into vacant retail space, such as the Lafayette, Indiana location which is in a former Sears store.[1][3]
In 2022, Five Star Parks & Attractions acquired Malibu Jack's.[4][3]
In 2025, the company announced its first Texas location in North Richland Hills, Texas, occupying a former At Home retail space with over 137,000 square feet of indoor area.[2] Also in 2025, it announced new locations in Towne Square Mall in Owensboro, Kentucky,[5] and in a former movie theater in Thornton, Colorado.[6] The Owensboro location was larger than previous ones, and was branded as Maui's Indoor Theme Park when it opened on May 8, 2026.[7]
Attractions
Typical attractions at Malibu Jack's include indoor go-kart tracks, Laser tag, Mini-golf, Bowling lanes,[8] Indoor roller coasters and motion rides, 4D theater and interactive dark ride experiences,[9] Arcade and redemption games.[1] The Texas location included pedal kart tracks, virtual reality / augmented reality attractions, bounce areas, and themed restaurants.[2]
Locations
As of 2025, Malibu Jack's operates the following locations:[10]
- Kentucky – Lexington, Louisville, Ashland, Owensboro[7]
- Illinois - White Oaks Mall in Springfield, Illinois[11]
- Indiana – Tippecanoe Mall in Lafayette[1]

Reception
According to reviews on Tripadvisor, visitors often highlight the range of attractions, while some note pricing as a drawback.[13]
Parents expressed concern on social media in 2024 after an argument between juveniles at the Iowa location escalated and resulted in two arrests. Police said they had a partnership with Malibu Jack's and weren't concerned about safety at the location.[12]
