Cody Anderson (born 30 January 2006) is a professional Australian rules footballer playing for the Hawthorn Football Club in the Australian Football League (AFL). A powerful inside midfielder known for his physical playing style, he was recruited through Hawthorn’s Next Generation Academy (NGA). Early life Anderson is a proud Wemba Wemba and Taungurung man. He grew up in Healesville, Victoria, and played his junior football for the Eastern Ranges in the Coates Talent League. During his draft year in 2024, he earned the nickname "The Beast from the East" due to his explosive power and high-pressure tackling. He averaged 18.8 disposals per game in 2023 while rotating between the midfield and forward line. AFL career Anderson was selected by Hawthorn with Pick 64 in the 2024 National Draft. Before being drafted, he gained experience training with Hawthorn’s senior squad and played several games for their VFL affiliate, Box Hill, where he showed significant promise as a future "cult figure" for the club.
