Todd Bryant (born October 8, 1963 in Santa Monica, California) is an American stuntman and actor.

Life

Bryant was born in Santa Monica, California. His interest in acting was sparked at the age of ten, when he took on the title role in Oliver! at the Morgan Theatre in Santa Monica. Due to a severe case of asthma, he was featured as a case study in the book The Cure by Dr. Timothy Brantley. He later overcame the condition naturally. In his early youth, he and his brother Shaun took part in amateur surf competitions held by the Western Surfing Association; both were sponsored by Ocean Surfboards and used boards custom‑made by Tim Phares and Ben Aipa. Between the ages of twelve and eighteen, he attended the stunt academy of renowned stuntman Paul Stader in Hollywood, where he was the youngest participant and graduate.

Career

Since 1982, Bryant has worked as a stuntman and stunt coordinator for film and television, including as a stunt double for Adam Baldwin, Brad Beyer, Brendan Fraser, Will Ferrell, Matthew Davis, Dolph Lundgren, Chris Pratt, Stellan Skarsgård, Tim Robbins and Ron Perlman – including doubling Perlman as “Hellboy” in the 2004 film of the same name. His first job as a stuntman was on the television series T. J. Hooker with William Shatner. He worked on several films and feature films, including The Lost World: Jurassic Park, The Matrix and 21 Jump Street, as well as numerous television series, among them multiple episodes of Buffy the Vampire Slayer, L.A. Heat, Angel, Ray Donovan, Chosen, Shameless and Shooter. He also appeared as an actor in numerous television series and Hollywood films, often in supporting or guest roles. In 1982, he played a Starfleet cadet in Star Trek II: The Wrath of Khan – his first on‑camera acting role. In 1989, he portrayed the Klingon Captain Klaa in Star Trek V: The Final Frontier, and in 1991 he appeared as a Klingon translator in Star Trek VI: The Undiscovered Country. He also doubled Ron Perlman in Star Trek: Nemesis (2003). Outside of Star Trek, he appeared in the 1984 film Lovelines. The following year, he played Neil in Friday the 13th: A New Beginning, the fifth installment of the series, and was included in “Jason’s Hit List” due to a particularly intense death scene. In the 1990s, he also had a recurring role as Artie Devers in four episodes of Beverly Hills, 90210. In 2004, Bryant produced the film Blowing Smoke. He also worked as an assistant director on Shattered Lies (2002) and Daddy’s Home 2 (2017). In 2010, he was hired as stunt coordinator for the film Everything Must Go, but also appeared in a supporting role. Bryant normally works as stunt double for comedian and actor Will Ferrell, and this was the first time the two appeared on screen together. Most recently, he served as stunt coordinator for the 2022 film Spirited and appeared in Joel Souza’s Rust in 2024, alongside Alec Baldwin, who also produced the film. Bryant is a member of the actors’ union SAG-AFTRA. In addition to his on‑camera work, he served as sparring partner to heavyweight kickboxing world champion Dennis Alexio from 1987 to 1992.

Quotes

I enjoy it thoroughly. To me, it's more fun than playing a good guy because I can be totally free as a bad guy and do anything I want with it. That's why I like it.
