Comment: I am struggling to see what happened here. But there was an article with proper referencing, that got declined by one of my colleague reviewers. The article appears to have been edited by a new editor - nothing wrong with that - however this led to the references going AWOL, to the extent that it no longer follows Wikipedia's manual of style; and the previous Article for Creation log trail has been removed - and that should not happen. Also the COI banner was removed.At least from the encyclopedia structure, the references need to be restored to the usual citation process, see WP:REFB. So some more work is needed. But thank you for removing a lot of over-promotional text. ChrysGalley (talk) 22:25, 23 December 2025 (UTC)

History
Ubicquia was founded in 2014 and is headquartered in Fort Lauderdale, Florida. [3] The company develops devices intended for use on existing municipal infrastructure, including streetlight poles and electrical distribution systems.[4]
In May 2020, Ubicquia acquired the smart streetlight company CityIQ from GE Current. [3] That same year, Ubicquia announced a $30 million funding round. [1].
In 2021, Ubicquia worked with Ericsson and AT&T on the Ericsson Street Radio 4402, a 5G small cell radio designed for installation on streetlight poles. [5]
Leadership
Ubicquia is led by CEO Ian Aaron.[2] Dave Wong is vice president of site acquisition and deployment.[10] In April 2025, the company appointed Doug Yates as its Chief Marketing Officer; Yates previously held marketing roles at Amazon MGM Studios, Fox Networks Group, and Lucasfilm.[11]
Awards and Recognition
Ubicquia and its CEO, Ian Aaron, have received industry recognitions. In 2022, Aaron was named the EY Entrepreneur of the Year for the Florida region.[7] Ubicquia has been included Government Technology’s GovTech 100 list, which includes companies working with state and local governments.[8] In 2020, the company received the Mobile Breakthrough Award for Small Cell Technology Innovation of the Year.[9]
Public Debate
Ubicquia's deployments in San Diego[12] have been associated with public discussions about surveillance and privacy.[6] In response, city officials introduced oversight measures related to the operation of the system.[13]
