Notability

@Duckmooseduck following our discussion on your talk page (and also the advice given at the AfC Help Desk by others), please provide WP:THREE sources that meet the notability criteria and only three. You can just provide the footnote numbers in the draft rather than having to link them here (like 3, 8, 10). S0091 (talk) 18:43, 8 August 2025 (UTC)

Hello!
Here is the three sources that meet notability -> 41, 11, 6, Duckmooseduck (talk) 19:07, 8 August 2025 (UTC)
@Duckmooseduck here is my assessment:
  • 41 - Spotlight on Business Magazine, their purpose is promoting a businesses brand per their About us page (i.e. "BUILDING BRANDS TOGETHER") so not a reliable nor independent source
  • 8 - United Way, this is a primary source and not independent because they are a partner
  • 6 - The East, this is a nice article because they are writing about the festival in hindsight with mostly the author's own analysis. The struggle with this one is there is no evidence they meet the reliable source criteria. Their About us page makes no mention of editorial oversight like a masthead (i.e. who is "we", who is the editor, etc.). All it says is The East is overseen by an enthusiastic group of writers and photographers who are passionate about all things Atlantic Canada. This seems to be more like a blog (see WP:BLOG).
I did also check ProQuest which has archives of publications including publications that are pay-walled so not easily accessible like the Telegraph-Journal. I made the effort because I thought the festival seems like something that should be able to meet to the criteria. I mean, its been going on for a decade drawing thousands but everything I found were either brief mentions, WP:ROUTINE or mostly based on what those involved say. That is not say sources do not exist but none so far do and I did look at most the sources cited in the draft.
It is covered briefly in the Saint John, New Brunswick article (and it should be brief in that article as it not yet historically significant but not trivial either). What I suggest is creating a WP:redirect the music section so someone searching for the festival will be directed there and happy to carry that out. S0091 (talk) 20:09, 8 August 2025 (UTC)
Thank you for the extra effort that you put in looking through the citations. If the article does get approved, I'll add the redirect from the main Saint John page.
However, if it's still not approved, I guess I'll wait a year and see if different types of sources pop up. Duckmooseduck (talk) 11:22, 11 August 2025 (UTC)
@Duckmooseduck you can't have both a redirect and an article. What I was thinking is to create a redirect now. If the draft is ever accepted, the redirect will be deleted with the article taking its place. S0091 (talk) 15:45, 11 August 2025 (UTC)
Gotcha, I will add the redirect now then. Thank you! Duckmooseduck (talk) 16:27, 11 August 2025 (UTC)
@Duckmooseduck you added a WP:wikilink to the draft in the article which is a no-no :). A redirect is a something different. It serves as a search term. For example, someone searching Marshal Mathers is redirected to Eminem. I just created Area 506 Fesitval which redirects to Saint John, New Brunswick#Music. S0091 (talk) 16:51, 11 August 2025 (UTC)
