Though this image is subject to copyright, its use is covered by the U.S. fair use laws, and the stricter requirements of Wikipedia's non-free content policies, because:
- It is a historically significant photo of a significant event — the hijacking of IC-814. It is one of the few images that depicts Taliban patrolling the area near the hijacked airplane and has been used in several articles covering the issue.
