Hyposmocoma malornata

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Hyposmocoma malornata is a species of moth of the family Cosmopterigidae. It was first described by Lord Walsingham in 1907. It is endemic to the Hawaiian islands of Necker, Nīhoa, Kauaʻi, Oʻahu, Molokaʻi, Maui and Hawaiʻi. The type locality is Olinda, where it was collected at an elevation of 4,000 feet (1,200 m).

The larva is probably a case-maker, and it may feed on lichen.
