The International Journal of STD & AIDS is a monthly peer-reviewed medical journal that covers the field of immunology as applied to sexually-transmitted diseases and HIV/AIDS. Its editor-in-chief is Prof Daniel Richardson; a clinician working in Brighton and Sussex Medical School. It was established in 1990 and is published by SAGE Publications. The journal has a global editorial board and global reach within the specialty.

Journal Scope and aims
Scope of The International journal of STD & AIDS as a global, peer reviewed journal is to publish high quality scientific articles focusing on the clinical, epidemiology & public health, social science, and educational aspects of sexual health and HIV
We aim to publish a wide range of topics related to sexual health and HIV including:
-Sexual health & HIV natural history, surveillance, epidemiology, emerging pathogens, transmission, public health and prevention, access to services, digital sexual health/online services, innovations in testing (including self-testing & sampling), clinical assessment and diagnostics, and screening and clinical management.
-Sexual health and HV clinical pharmacology, pharmacokinetics, pharmacodynamics, and drug–drug interactions.
-Sexual health and HIV related topics including genital dermatology, psychosexual medicine, reproductive health, young people and safeguarding, mental health & wellbeing, substance use in sexualised context (chemsex), and other social determinants of health.
-Sexual health & HIV social science research including patient experiences, sexual behaviour, stigma and discrimination, health interventions, clinical service exploration and other qualitative work.
-Sexual health and HIV innovation, intervention implementation, practice orientated and interdisciplinary working.
-Sexual health & HIV clinical guidance and education for practitioners.
The journal will facilitate these aims by publishing original quantitative and qualitative research, systematic reviews, opinion pieces, clinical practice guidelines, quality improvement and service innovation articles, and educational content including case reports with continuing professional development questions.
The journal seeks to grow its community (authors, editorial board members, editors and reviewers) from diverse backgrounds and perspectives promoting inclusivity including using patient first language. We seek to address health inequality and inequity by publishing evidence to bring about change at policy and clinical levels. We also aim to attract early career researchers from low- and middle-income settings to publish in our journal.
