LUX is a UK arts organisation and distributor that supports and promotes visual artists working with the moving image.[1] Founded in 2002, it developed from the activities and collections of the London Film-Makers' Co-op, London Video Arts and the Lux Centre.[2] Its distribution collection contains more than 6,000 works by more than 1,500 artists and spans more than a century. LUX operates primarily as a distributor, providing access to artists' moving-image works for curators, programmers and researchers.[2]
History
The London Film-Makers' Co-op (LFMC), one of LUX's predecessor organisations, was founded in London in October 1966 as a non-profit film distribution cooperative.[3] In January 1999, London Electronic Arts, formerly London Video Access, merged with the LFMC to form the Lux Centre.[4] The Lux Centre closed in 2001, and LUX was established in 2002 as a new organisation continuing the distribution and collection activities of its predecessors.[2][3] Since 2016, LUX has been based at Waterlow Park in Highgate, London.[2]

LUX Online
LUX Online is a web resource devoted to British-based artists' film and video. Developed and funded between 2004 and 2009, it includes streaming video excerpts, essays, biographies and a historical timeline of artists' film and video. The project is no longer updated but remains available online.[6]
